Sayres is currently seeking an experienced Mid-Level Marine Engineer with an active SECRET clearance, verifiable in DISS in Washington, DC.

Responsibilities:

As a Mid-Level Marine Engineer, you will play a key role in providing engineering and technical support for various shipbuilding activities. Your expertise in naval architecture, marine engineering, and electrical engineering will be vital in ensuring the success of projects related to ships, boats, craft, and shipboard equipment. Additionally, you will be responsible for supporting the Hull, Mechanical & Electrical (HM Command, Control, Communications, Computers & Intelligence (C4I); and mission equipment and systems installed aboard various vessels, including Combat Logistics Force (CLF), Special Mission Ships, and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) assets.

  1. Offer comprehensive engineering and technical support throughout the shipbuilding process, including concept studies, feasibility studies, and preliminary design activities.
  2. Collaborate on contract design activities and detail design and construction activities to ensure the successful execution of shipbuilding projects.
  3. Conduct independent design reviews to assess and optimize the efficiency and safety of ship systems and equipment.
  4. Provide technical expertise for in-service ship design and engineering activities, contributing to the continued effectiveness of ships and their systems.
  5. Offer shipboard installation support, ensuring the seamless integration of equipment and systems aboard vessels.
  6. Participate in special studies related to ships, boats, craft, and shipboard equipment, with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.

Additional Duties:

  1. Utilize your expertise in Navy procedures and Policies (DoD 5000 process) to ensure compliance with regulations and streamline project execution.
  2. Support and contribute to projects involving Foreign Military Sales (FMS) and Military Sealift Command procedures and processes, fostering international collaboration and expanding market opportunities.
  3. Demonstrate proficiency in Ship Operations and/or shipboard testing, conducting rigorous testing and evaluations to ensure the quality and safety of marine systems and equipment.
  4. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior marine engineering staff, fostering their professional development.

Minimum Skill Sets of Qualified Candidates:

  1. Bachelor's of Science in Marine Engineering or Transportation.
  2. 3+ years of experience in DoD/Navy program management or Government technical management.
  3. Active Secret Clearance verifiable in DISS/JPAS.

Preferred Skill Sets of Qualified Candidates:

  1. Master's degree in an Engineering discipline.
  2. 5+ years of experience in Navy program management, Government technical management, or Industry business management.
  3. Possession of 2nd Assistant Engineer Steam or Diesel or 2nd Mates Marine Navigation License Unlimited Tonnage USCG (Active or Inactive), showcasing practical expertise in marine operations.
