Shulman Rogers is a full-service, 100+ attorney law firm with its principal office located in Potomac, Maryland and with branch offices in Tysons Corner, Alexandria, and Washington, D.C. The firm supports regional and local clients and works collaboratively, across practice groups, to respond to all of their legal needs.

Shulman Rogers' Estates, Trusts and Probate practice group is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Trust and Estates Paralegal to join our dynamic legal team. The successful candidate will provide substantive legal support to our attorneys in all aspects of trust and estate administration. This position requires a strong understanding of probate procedures, estate and trust administration, a comfort level with various electronic software used to prepare estate and trust accountings, and a high level of organizational and communication skills.

Duties Include:

  • The preparation of probate filings for Maryland, District of Columbia and Virginia;
  • Assisting with administration of estates and trusts from inception to close, including, but not limited to, the sale and transfer of assets;
  • Preparation of Federal and State estate tax returns;
  • Overall management of estate and trust administration in a timely manner.

Candidate must possess:

  • A bachelor's degree and/or paralegal certificate.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including comfort and skill in speaking with clients and other professionals.
  • Proficient in probate and trust administration procedures.
  • Strong computer skills including probate-specific tax and accounting computer software (GEMS preferred). Experience with EVP, iManage, and Microsoft Office a plus.
  • Critical attention to detail, the ability to manage a large case load, strong math skills and an understanding of basic estate and income tax concepts.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with attorneys and support staff.
