SUMMARY

Directs activities of the center to ensure compliance to applicable regulations and provide comprehensive child development services. Additionally, support family members with opportunities for growth and change by performing the following duties.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Must have a working telephone, cell phone or pager.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License with immediate access to a legally insured vehicle.
  • Must be able to drive an automobile, full size pick-up, and a van.
  • Must at least have auto liability insurance and must keep it current.
  • Must consent to and pass an initial health examination.
  • Must maintain a current TB Screening.
  • Must consent to and pass state felony, Central Registry Check, and/or FBI background check when applicable.
  • Must consent to and pass agency drug testing.

Education and/or Experience

Center Directors shall be twenty-one (21) years of age or older, and provide documentation of one of the following educational levels (Directors previously approved prior to the implementation of these requirements may continue in their position and do not have to meet these educational levels):

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher Degree in Early Childhood, Child Development or a related field from a regionally accredited college or university. (Determination of "related field" shall be made by the Division)
  • Bachelor's Degree in a non-related field from a regionally accredited college or university plus one of the following:
    • Four years of experience in early childhood education
    • Child Development Associate Credential (CDA)
    • Birth Pre K Credential
  • Associate's degree in Early Childhood, Child Development or a related field, plus six (6) years of experience in Early Childhood Education
  • Eight years of experience in Early Childhood Education and completion of one of the following, within two years of employment:
    • A Child Development Associate Credential
    • Birth Pre K Credential
    • Director's Credential or the equivalent
    • Technical Certificate in Early Childhood Education

Individuals who have been employed in the position of Director or Site Supervisor at any time prior to implementation of this rule will not be required to meet the new director's qualifications. These individuals may change employers after this date and still qualify as director

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to parents, and employees of the agency.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed and involved written or oral instructions.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have general knowledge of a personal computer, Windows, Microsoft Word and Excel, the Internet and email software. In addition an individual should be able to operate various office machines.
