Responsibilities:

  • Excellent employment opportunity for a Senior Scientist in the Gaithersburg, MD area.
  • Currently, we are seeking a highly motivated and broadly skilled bench Scientist with scientific and technical expertise in protein biochemistry with a track record of scientific achievement to join the Late-stage formulation science group.
  • Fully competent in own research area.
  • Will be able to work without direct supervision and be able to advise/ train less experienced scientists.
  • The position requires a strong interest in laboratory bench work and driving projects forward.
  • Conduct in vitro experiments to support the development of biologics, mainly monoclonal antibody
  • Perform a range of experiments to construct, produce, and evaluate different conditions of a study and be able to draw conclusions
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the group to drive projects towards successful completion
  • Make detailed observations, analyze data, and interpret results independently
  • Preparation of precise technical summaries, protocols, quantitative analyses, and maintenance of appropriate documentation
  • Oversee the day-to-day organization of different project-related components
  • Contribute to the publishing of discoveries in high quality, peer-reviewed journals

Experience:

  • M.S. in Protein Biochemistry or related Scientific discipline with 2+ years of experience, or
  • B.S. in Protein Biochemistry or related Scientific discipline with 5+ years of experience
  • Broad experience required in Protein Biochemistry
  • Extensive hands-on experience with characterization of protein reagents (e.g., antibody molecules, etc.)
  • Knowledge and understanding of biological stability including but not limited to sources of aggregation and particle formation
  • Experience working with HPSEC and other chromatography techniques
  • Mastery of protein measurement and characterization assays (e.g., ELISA, IgG quantification, SDS-PAGE and Western blot analysis, etc.)
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills together with evidence of having used these to support problem-solving and delivery in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Track record of success in your research and experience preparing written scientific reports (e.g., manuscripts) and oral presentations (e.g., slides, posters, etc.)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to understand, conduct and interpret results of technically challenging experiments with minimum supervision.
  • Comfortable with plotting data using Excel and PowerPoint.
