Potato Grower Relations/Buyer

The Potato Buyer/Raw Procurement position is responsible for managing the raw potato program for the Center, CO food processing facility. Major duties include: building and maintaining good relationships with raw potato suppliers; under direction of Plant Manager and VP of Operations negotiating and contracting raw potatoes and purchasing open raw potatoes to meet plant needs; scheduling deliveries of raw potatoes to meet production requirements for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week operation; overseeing raw potato deliveries and verifying that tare tests are being accurately completed; insuring daily reports are accurately and timely prepared; being informed of the local potato industry and keeping Plant Manager and VP of Operations apprised of important information and development;, assisting with forecasting and preparing budgets for raw potato needs.

In addition, the Potato Buyer will supervise the raw receiving employees, manage and control raw potato inventory and potato varieties to insure proper inventory rotation, Insure all raw potato reports and records are timely and accurately prepared, and Insure all raw potato pay sheets are accurately and timely completed, including coordination with other company departments to insure payments are timely processed.

Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of the grower community a must. Must have valid driver's license. Effective communication skills, both written and oral, in English, Ability to build relationships and demonstrated negotiating skills and experience, Understanding of raw ingredient quality and use as it pertains to a manufacturing environment.
