POSITION: Spacecraft FPGA Design Engineer, Rockville, MD 

OVERVIEW:  Quantum Space was founded to lead the next Space frontier with the development of our QuantumNet constellation. As part of the Quantum team, you will be a key contributor to the future of space-based data and logistics services via our state-of-the-art spacecraft platforms. Quantum Space is looking for an experienced Spacecraft FPGA Design Engineer to inform and improve the design and flight of Quantum’s spacecraft. You will work with a fast-paced and tight-knit multi-disciplinary team to rapidly and truly change the future of space technology. Your passionate and relentless focus on space systems development will provide technical depth, mission assurance, and critical insights for Quantum Space, our partners, and our customers throughout the globe. RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE: 

  • Design of spacecraft electronics FPGAs using space industry standards. 

  • Generation of design requirements and architecture diagrams. 

  • Development of RTL code and testbenches for FPGAs, ensuring flight performance of established requirements. 

  • Development of requirements, architecture, design, test, and integration of FPGA firmware. 

  • Collaboration with other design disciplines (electrical, software, and systems engineering). 

  • Support of electrical and software engineers during various phases of board verification: design, bring-up and test. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • BS in electrical engineering or related field. 

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. 

  • Proficient in RTL (Verilog or VHDL) languages. 

  • Proficient with radiation hardened FPGA tool flows. 

  • Proficient in design of FPGA architecture/design 

  • Knowledge of industry standard interfaces (UART, Ethernet, Spacewire, etc). 

  • Proficient in scripting/programming languages (Tcl, Python, etc). 

  • Technical writing and oral presentation skills. 

  • Experience with flight hardware integration and testing. 

  • Knowledge of commercial, industry, and NASA specifications and standards.
