Business Development Associate

OCT Consulting, LLC is a management and technology consulting firm that provides /support to Federal Government clients. We provide consulting services in the areas of Strategy, Process Improvement, Change Management, Program and Project Management, Acquisition/Procurement, Cybersecurity, and Information Technology.

Our Business Development (BD) team is united around one mission: growing OCT. We accomplish this through diligent BD activities, providing best-in-class proposals, including RFP/RFP and RFI/MR/SS responses, and other BD services, and inspiring our teammates to win. We are looking for a candidate who has strong writing skills and a thorough understanding of the English language. The ideal candidate should be comfortable with detail- heavy, time-consuming tasks.

Your Role on the Team

Our BD team comprises a wide range of Business Development experts who specialize in capture strategy and proposal development; market research; storyboarding; price-to-win; and more. Through a suite of services, tools, and programs we develop strategies to pursue and win work. The Business Development Associate primarily supports proposal efforts through administrative- and research-related duties. The Business Development Associate provides hands-on support to the proposal team throughout the proposal process. This includes identifying new opportunities, utilizing proposal templates, coordinating/writing sections, supporting meetings, coordinating graphics and desktop publishing functions, and all other steps required to create a compliant and winning proposal.

Proposal efforts may be a cyclical demand. On occasion, the Business Development Associate may also support other corporate functions. A key requirement of this position is the ability to work under strict deadlines, coordinate work products across the team, and possess a desire to learn and take on new responsibilities. Your Responsibilities

● Perform various proposal (RFP/RFQ/RFI/MR/SS) support services, such as analyzing solicitations, determining proposal requirements, developing the response strategy, and ensuring compliance

● Contribute to proposal sections as needed, including writing, editing, tailoring, and formatting

● Perform forecasting and capture activities in include procurement forecast reviews, reaching out to federal points of contact, reviewing databases including GovWin, USAspending, and FPDS

● Gather relevant resumes and project descriptions from across the organization in a timely manner and modify them per proposal requirements with approved templates. Participate in resume reviews with project managers to ensure they highlight relevant information, showcase required experience, and are compliant with solicitation requirements.

● Assist as needed with the submission of required proposal forms

● Take meeting notes and monitor action items follow-through action items perform the regular upkeep of online proposal portals and proposal team working sites

● May develop compliance matrices and support color team reviews as well as coordinate production

● Work to continually assess and improve processes using knowledge and techniques by taking initiative.

● Provide excellent customer service, and communicate effectively with internal clients and external business partners, and meet project deadlines

● Maintain courteous, professional, and effective working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization.

Requirements

Basic Requirements

● Bachelor’s degree preferred, with specialization in Communications, English, Journalism, Business, or related field

● 1+ year experience in a professional setting, and experience with writing or editing, required

● 1+ year of experience with professional writing and/or proposal preparation and production

● Experience working in a fast-paced, client-oriented environment with a collaborative and productive work style

● Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills

● Excellent critical thinking, analytic, and problem-solving skills.

● Detail Oriented writing and editing skills.

● Ability to work quickly, accurately, and collaboratively to meet deadlines

● Highly responsive and able to identify and address high-priority tasks

● Competitive, energetic, and motivated to exceed personal and established goals

● Strong proficiency in the MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Preferred Qualifications

● High level of attention to detail

● Positive attitude, even when under pressure

● Customer service experience

● Ability to work to meet deadlines (nights, weekends, and holidays if necessary)

● Ability to work with all levels of internal staff, as well as team partner

● Sound business ethics, including the protection of proprietary and confidential information
