Job Summary
As a Marine Rigger, you will be responsible for safety and efficiently rigging and lifting heavy loads, equipment, and materials on marine vessels. Your expertise in rigging techniques, equipment operation, and adherence to maritime regulations will contribute to the successful execution of rigging operations and the overall safety of our maritime operations.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
  • Rig and lift heavy loads, equipment, and materials using a variety of rigging techniques, including wire ropes, slings, and chains, while ensuring load stability and safety.
  • Inspect rigging equipment and components for signs of wear, damage, or defects, and recommend replacements or repairs as necessary.
  • Collaborate with crane operators, shipfitters, and other team members to coordinate and execute safe lifting operations.
  • Read and interpret rigging plans, load charts, and engineering specifications to determine the appropriate rigging methods and equipment being used.
  • Safely operate rigging equipment, including winches, hoists, and come along while following proper operating procedures.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Completion of a recognized rigging certification program is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Marine Rigger, with a strong record in rigging heavy loads on marine vessels.
  • Expertise in various techniques, equipment, and materials used in the marine industry.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting rigging plans, load charts, and engineering specifications.
  • Strong understanding of load dynamics, angles, and load distribution principles.
Safety & Environmental Factors:
All employees are expected to adhere to the company’s safety policies to maintain a safe and healthy work environment. This role involves working under extreme hot or cold conditions and requires the physical ability to stand for the entire shift, use hands for various tasks, ascend stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. Team members must occasionally lift items weighing up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required include close, distant, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
