Director of Safety and Quality
                                                                                         
 
  

Job Responsibilities
Plans, directs, and coordinates the company’s quality programs, safety initiatives, risk management and loss control systems to ensure that the program is in full compliance with company policy, OSHA regulations and other construction industry standards.

-Extensive knowledge and experience with fleet safety, insurance, and claims management.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
-Maintain and implement/improve written Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Management programs in line with legal and regulatory requirements and corporate guidelines.
-Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations, provide regulatory interpretation and guidance to job site(s) and evaluation of applicable legal and other EHS requirements.
-Complete and maintain EHS records and comply with all applicable federal, state, and local reporting and permitting requirements.
-Conduct EHS audits and manage and direct related corrective and preventative actions. Anticipate potential problems or issues & working to establish solutions to avoid them.
-Responsible for all company vehicle safety claims and workers compensation administration including case management and accident and incident investigations. Manages the return to work/restricted work duty program.
-Perform EHS training, including new hire safety orientation, for all management, supervisory and field staff during all aspects of the project starting with preconstruction phase.  Manage, schedule, and maintain through training database while providing a constant positive culture of education and mentorship.  Ensure safety training meets industry standard requirements to enable the staff to perform regular tasks and projects.
-Responsible for communication of EHS goals and objectives, as well as EHS Management reporting.
-Maintain open, honest, and frequent communications with the supervisory and labor staff.
-Serve as the safety liaison between clients, subcontractors, and inspectors. Represent the company in the community or industry safety groups and programs.
-Manages all hazard assessment activities:
-Conducts and/or supervises all safety inspections.
-Reviews the inspection data to find ways to improve upon safety practices.
-Leads, manages, and trains safety staff to develop a well-structured safety awareness team.
-Manages all safety incentive programs which targets positive behavior and safety technique such as:
Safety Sam
Quarterly Safety Bonus Award
Annual Safety Award
-Manages the regular update of the company safety manual regarding policy and OSHA and Environmental compliance.
-Manages the BROWZ approval of safety manual.
-Review and update all monthly site-specific safety plans with project team.
-Work cohesively with the Equipment Manager to ensure safe equipment operating techniques as well as regular equipment maintenance logs.
-Implement, inspect, and maintain job site and office SDS manuals & train employees in SDS Procedures
-Ensure safety compliance with signs, posters, barriers, and other materials to properly warn of potential hazards to prevent such problems.
-Identify closest medical facilities and clinics available closest to every project and distribute information to staff.
-Accept and review all subcontractor job specific safety programs as well as trying to follow up and make sure the programs are being implemented properly.
-Oversee motor vehicle safety of the fleet by maintaining records of driver background investigations to make sure they qualify to drive the vehicle.
-Develop and maintain company quality policies and procedures.
-Oversee the training of quality processes
-Ensure quality audits are conducted and track closure of action items
-Report established quality metrics

Education and Experience
-Degree in Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field and/or combination of education and related environmental, health, and safety experience required.
-Minimum of five year’s experience in a health & safety position in construction environment required.
-Professional Certificates (CSP, CHST, OSHT, CSST, CRIS) preferred.
-Strong OSHA, EPA, NEC, NFPA and building and life safety codes knowledge and application experience.
-Knowledge of workers compensation laws
-Multi-state safety management experience a plus.
-Lead Investigator training in root cause analysis techniques (such as TOPSET, TAPROOT) preferred.
-Highly organized and efficient with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office suite.
