About this position:

We are looking to hire a Database Management Specialist. In this role you will administering Oracle databases, optimizing performance, implementing backup strategies, and collaborating on data architecture, including data warehousing, ETL, data mining, and OLTP concepts. The position involves ensuring data security, and generating reports, while maintaining technical expertise in database management and integrity.

Salary Range: 115k-125k - commensurate with the candidate's skills, experience, location, and qualifications.

On a day-to-day basis you will:

  1. Proficiently manage database administration tasks, including user control, storage, monitoring, and security.
  2. Conduct comprehensive performance tuning, addressing memory, I/O, and tuning contentions. Use tools like AWR, ADDM, Advisories, TKPROF, SQL TRACE, and EXPLAIN PLAN for improved performance.
  3. Implement robust backup, recovery strategies, and disaster recovery plans. Execute diverse backups, including RMAN-assisted full, partial, incremental, and cumulative backups.
  4. Engage in data modeling and database design, query development, and performance analysis and optimization.
  5. Coordinate DEV and QA environment synchronization after major releases.
  6. Administer Materialized Views for enhanced data consolidation and optimization.
  7. Solid understanding on relational database concepts, data warehouse concepts (Star schema and Snowflake schemas) and architecture (Oracle preferred)
  8. Experience in preparing and maintaining master data, data mapping document and DDL deployment.
  9. Proficient in developing PL/SQL procedures, functions, triggers, packages, and SQL*Loader scripts, and modify existing scripts.
  10. Develop and implement PowerShell scripts, shell scripting, and PL/SQL procedures for various Database management tasks including automation, optimization, data migration, schema synchronization, etc.,
  11. Analyze user needs, develop database systems, collaborate on data architecture, including Data Warehousing and OLTP. Provide expertise in data storage, mining, cleansing for informed decision-making.
  12. Minimize downtime by managing parameters and configurations. Apply changes, patches, and updates to maintain optimal performance.
  13. Enforce/document database policies, procedures, standards for data quality.
  14. Generate insightful reports from single/multiple systems through data analysis.
  15. Assess, implement, and optimize software for system decisions. Develop and manage Oracle databases for security and efficiency. Troubleshoot SQL*Net files for seamless data transfer.

Required Education/Qualifications:

  • Clearance: MUST be fully adjudicated & maintain a Top Secret security clearance or higher.
  • Associate/bachelor's degree with 3+ years of relevant DevSecOps experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of database patching, database backup and recovery techniques, security controls, data integrity, and PL/SQL development.
  • Must be comfortable working in an Oracle RAC Database two/three nodes.
  • Able to apply Oracle quarterly security patches to a single instance database and RAC databases.
  • Must have a good understanding of Goldengate features and functioning as this will be needed for the daily monitoring portion and other tasks.
  • Advanced analytical and troubleshooting skills with good problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience working with and supporting Agile development team and DevSecOps environments, showcasing adaptability and collaboration in fast-paced development setups.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Security+ certification, preferred
  • Relevant Oracle Database Administration Certification.
  • Knowledge of Previous experience working with DoD systems, showcasing familiarity with defense-related projects and security requirements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft products such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, Project and SharePoint.
  • Knowledge of the "Silent Mode" installation for database.
