What You'll Do

ECS Limited is in search of an adept Forensic Structural Engineer to join our expanding team in Austin. In this pivotal role, you will spearhead building testing services, property assessments, forensic investigations, and repair designs for existing structures.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive testing and consulting services for the built environment, including property condition assessments, specialized testing, building enclosure consulting, forensic investigation analysis, and design of repairs for existing structures.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to responsibility, organization, reliability, time management, and self-motivation in executing daily tasks.
  • Craft detailed reports and proposals to communicate findings and recommendations effectively.
  • Oversee the entire lifecycle of proposals, from initial drafting to fieldwork coordination and final report preparation.
  • Cultivate and manage a client database, ensuring effective communication and lasting partnerships.
  • Manage budgets and prepare invoices with a keen attention to detail.
  • Mentor other staff members, sharing knowledge and fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Champion a safe workplace by ensuring the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and adhering to safety protocols.
  • Promote company values, positive culture, and high employee engagement.

What We're Looking For

Required Experience & Skills:

  • 8-12 years of relevant experience, including successful management of facilities consulting projects, oversight of structural or building envelope projects, and provision of assessments and investigative services (forensics) for the built environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of building codes and materials codes.
  • Proficiency in structural, architectural, and building systems, design, and/or analysis.
  • Understanding of the technical testing and evaluation process.
  • Strong marketing and business development skills to contribute to the growth of the organization.
  • Interest in project management with a proven ability to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to convey complex technical information clearly.
  • Ability to work effectively in teams, collaborating with clients, peers, and subordinates.

Required Education & Certifications:

  • BS in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited college/university.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) and/or Structural Engineer (SE) license(s) preferred; ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity within three months of hire required.

Preferred Education & Certifications:

  • MS in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited college/university.
