IT Development Manager (Instrumentation Laboratory Company, a Werfen Company, Bedford, Massachusetts): On behalf of a worldwide developer, manufacturer, and distributor of specialized diagnostic instruments for hemostasis, acute care, and autoimmunity products and services, will serve as a liaison between business and technical aspects of projects, analyze the business needs of users, and design information systems and applications suited to their needs.

Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the development effort in a specific business area of a major IT software installation project, under the supervision and with the support of Senior Management.
  • Meet with users of assigned functional areas to discuss business needs and procedures.
  • Analyze and generate functional specifications for information systems.
  • Listen to and evaluate user needs and advise the user's supervisor on IT modification requests.
  • Decide priority level and amount of time spent on program development in conjunction with the Senior Management team.
  • Perform feasibility studies on the design and development of programs using existing business procedures and considering the computer system's capabilities.
  • Analyze and interpret software specifications to determine if a program can be developed to satisfy the user's needs. Work with Senior Management to implement modifications.
  • Analyze business functions and prepare technical design documentation including program flow charts, data fields, database tables, and other documentation as required.
  • Under the direct supervision of senior management, will lead and guide the work of a team of IT Analyst Programmers to program, test, and implement software programs according to the business needs of the user. This will include supervising the assigned development team, assigning and distributing work to the team members; establishing and leading training programs for members of the development team or recommending training sessions from external providers; balancing workloads between the members of the team; and evaluating employee performance and conducting annual performance evaluations for the development team employees.
  • Prepare end-user documentation and establish training programs and provide training for end-users.
  • Oversee IT program modifications, new custom transactions, utilities, and reports. This will include conducting IT program tests and correcting any program errors. It will also include performing system tests with the participation of the lead computer users of those business applications included in their area of responsibility.
  • Supervise the development and documentation of controls for the detection and prevention of security breaches and to ensure the security of data and communications services. Example security breaches might include unauthorized access and protecting against malicious software.
  • Perform risk assessments and ensure compliance with the security policies established for the acquisition, design, development, operation, administration and maintenance of production systems, operating systems, control of networks and communication systems, databases, and related technological resources of Werfen.
  • Manage IT projects assigned by the IT Development Director or IT Senior Director.
  • Support IT Organization Analysts to define user requirements and coordinate user training.
  • Function as a subject matter expert for defined functional areas and participate in meetings with the IT Development Director, IT Organization Analysts, and IT Senior Director.
  • Communicate with IT QA Testers to coordinate quality testing of the software.
  • Regularly meet with key IT systems users to clarify user requirements, review prototypes, provide training, provide support, and problem resolution.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a closely related technical field of study and 6 years of experience as a System Analyst or related technical role within the medical device or IVD industry.

Must also have: (I) 2 years of experience (which can have been obtained concurrently with the primary experience requirement above) with (a) designing and developing applications in SAP (specifically, 6.0 EHP 7 or higher with a HANA database) including development of applications and custom transactions in the SAP PP (production planning), QM (quality management), SD (Sales and Distribution), and MM (materials Management) modules including the QA complaint process, production process, purchase requisition workflow and QM certification generation process, sales process, MRP planning and EDI services integration and SAP S/4 HANA; (b) designing and implementing SAP integration with third party applications including the design and development of APIs using standard web development tools (specifically webservices and SOA manager); (c) customizing auto generated HTML pages by the ITS service for mobile devices to meet business requirements; (d) designing and developing SAP Fiori applications; (e) documentation and validation of systems according to FDA standards; and (f) performing O-Data development; (II) Background in database design; (III) Well developed analytical skills; (IV) Effective verbal and written communication in individual and group settings; (V) Detail oriented with strong organizational skills and track record meeting deadlines; and (VI) Demonstrated ability to support multiple projects with strong planning and prioritization skills.
