The Department of Environmental Protection is actively seeking a Semi Skilled Laborer to become a part of the team operating within the Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

You will perform the necessary labor and operate a variety of light and heavy construction and maintenance equipment for a wide range of abandoned mine land reclamation projects within Pennsylvania's Bituminous Coal District under the responsibility of the Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation. You will perform tasks like shoveling, raking, carrying materials, laying pipe, landscaping, and maintaining grounds. This will include the use of tools such as electric drills, power saws, chainsaws, and multi-purpose saws. After training, you will operate and maintain equipment like excavators, backhoes, skid steers, and pipe cleaners. You will be responsible for generating daily reports on equipment usage and operating hours, as well as managing an inventory of materials, lubricants, and supplies, and reporting stock levels to your supervisor.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Conditions of Employment:
  • This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.
