DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Our staff perform a variety of entry level social services duties designed to provide supportive services to children, youth, and families. Social Service Aides provide parenting education services and transportation for our clients. We work in close cooperation with other social service agencies, hospitals, mental health facilities, police, Courts, schools, and other community resources in assisting the families.

One of our goals is to provide a continuum of care and services for children and their families to preserve the family unit as well as provide educational opportunities and preventative programs in an effort to improve communication and the skills necessary to assure the safety, permanency and well-being of children.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a County Social Services Aide 1; or
  • Graduation from high school, or its equivalency, and two years of experience in public contact work in a human services agency which included one year of experience in interviewing and obtaining information; or
  • An associate's degree in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.


Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.


Legal Requirements:

  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
