* Provides a full range of administrative and technical supervision for a large diverse workforce located in several building facilities.

* Provides research, kit configuration and packaging development, small engine maintenance, diagnostic testing or repair, tool rehabilitation, and refurbishment services in support of wildland fire operations.

* Establishes and revises deadlines, methods, priorities, and work sequences for performance and cost effectiveness to accomplish immediate, projected and unanticipated work requirements.

* Analyzes packaging problems and develops specifications, guidelines and plans for examining, cleaning, preserving, rehabilitation, and packing using material handling equipment and appropriate methods of storing supplies, materials and equipment.

* Evaluates and determine cost effective methods, procedures, and work practices.

**Physical Demands:** The incumbent often stands on hard surfaces for extended periods of time, and bends, stoops, and works in tiring and sometimes uncomfortable positions. The incumbent is required to lift and carry items that weigh up to 40 pounds on a recurring basis. Incumbent is required to be available to work long hours on short notice, and be available for duty on weekends, holidays and night as required.

**Work Environment:** Typically works in well lighted, heated, and ventilated areas. Occasionally works outside or in areas that are drafty and poorly lit. The work is sometimes dusty, dirty, and greasy. Frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, and bruises. Usually works in the machine shop where there is dust, dirt, and fumes; danger to skin from flying metal chips and hot metal, and to fingers and hands from close contact with sharp edges, moving cutters, and grinding wheels. When working with packaging products, chemicals or petroleum products incumbent may be exposed to noxious fumes, skin irritants and flammable chemicals.

Incumbent performs work in temperatures range from -50 to 90 degrees and must be capable of performing duties outdoors in extreme heat without shade, heavy thunderstorms, and freezing conditions. **Education**
