Job Title: Digital Communications Specialist

Location: Fully Remote

Salary: DOE + full benefits

Clearance: Active DHS Public Trust (or ability to obtain)

Position Description

The Digital Communications Specialist will be responsible for developing and implementing digital communication strategies to support the objectives and initiatives of our federal client. This role requires a deep understanding of digital media platforms, data analytics, and content management systems, coupled with strong creative and technical skills. The ideal candidate will have experience leveraging digital channels to engage diverse audiences, enhance brand visibility, and drive strategic communication goals within the federal government context.

Job Responsibilities

· Develop and execute digital communication strategies to effectively convey key messages, promote initiatives, and engage target audiences on behalf of the federal client.

· Manage and maintain the federal client's digital presence across various platforms, including websites, social media channels, email newsletters, and other digital communication channels.

· Utilize web content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Drupal) to update, edit, and optimize website content, ensuring accuracy, relevance, and accessibility.

· Create compelling and engaging digital content, including written, visual, and multimedia assets, to support communication objectives and enhance audience engagement.

· Monitor and analyze digital metrics, including website traffic, social media engagement, and email performance, to assess the effectiveness of communication efforts and inform strategic decision-making.

· Stay abreast of emerging trends, best practices, and innovations in digital communication and technology, and make recommendations for incorporating new tools and techniques into communication strategies.

· Collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders to coordinate digital communication initiatives and ensure alignment with broader organizational goals.

· Provide training and guidance to staff members on digital communication best practices, tools, and technologies.

· Implement and maintain digital communication standards, guidelines, and protocols to ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance with relevant policies and regulations.

· Support the federal client's crisis communication efforts by monitoring digital channels, responding to inquiries and comments, and providing timely updates as needed.

· Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall communication objectives of the federal client.

Required Skills/Qualifications

· Proven experience in digital communications, preferably within the federal government or a related industry.

· Demonstrated proficiency in managing and optimizing digital platforms, including websites (WordPress, Drupal, etc.), social media (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.), and email marketing (MailChimp, Constant Contact, etc.).

· Experience with web content management systems and proficiency in updating and maintaining website content.

· Strong understanding of digital analytics tools (Google Analytics, social media insights, etc.) and the ability to interpret data to inform decision-making and optimize performance.

· Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to create compelling content tailored for digital platforms and diverse audiences.

· Proficiency in graphic design and multimedia production tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc.) is preferred.

· Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

· Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and external partners.

· Bachelor’s degree in communications, Marketing, Digital Media, or related field. Master's degree preferred.

Desired Skills/Qualifications

· Possess a DHS Public Trust or equivalent clearance.

· Strong critical thinking skills, writing skills, and communication skills to understand clients’ problems and identify solutions to address challenges.

· Organized, flexible, adaptable, team-oriented, and able to operate effectively in ambiguous situations.

· Familiarity with graphics design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, or similar tools.

· Demonstrates abilities and success in working with clients to understand and document needs, translating those needs into requirements.

· Experience managing clients in a dynamic federal environment with multiple cross-functional stakeholders, where priorities can shift rapidly.

· The ability to identify and define new process improvement opportunities for the program.

· Familiarity with law enforcement organizations or large federal organizations
