Location: Sterling, VA

Hours: 7:45 am -4:15 pm M-F

Under the clinical supervision of the Physician Administrator, the Registered Nurse provides direct patient care support services to WRA physicians and supports the general operation of the office. This is a non-exempt hourly position.

RESULTS MEASURED BY THE FOLLOWING RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Understands, promotes and demonstrates the Solis Way
  • Plan, implement and maintain standards of nursing care and a quality assurance program in the office;
  • Respond to all medical emergencies within the office and assume role of emergency team leader until physician arrives; Maintain communication with on-call emergency physician;
  • Insert angiocaths, butterfly needles, IV quick-caths and monitor IV fluid administration of patients when necessary;
  • Administer emergency medications, intravenous narcotics, other medications and oxygen therapy per physician’s orders; Prepare and administer contrast media for patient consumption; Account for controlled medications on crash cart; Monitor expiration dates of medications on crash cart and replace them when needed;
  • Telephone patients who are scheduled for examinations to obtain medical history and pertinent information and to give preparation instructions; Ascertain area of injury or patient’s symptoms to assist the physician in reporting the proper diagnosis; Maintain patient assessment record-keeping - patient history/consent information, contrast dosage and reaction; Review discharge and follow-up instructions with patients and their families;
  • Provide in-service to staff and physicians regarding nursing policies, emergency trauma, trauma equipment, contrast injector, venipuncture, CPR and OSHA regulations;
  • Correctly process all pertinent exam related information including charge slips and/or direct computer entry as directed;
  • Must be thoroughly knowledgeable about and comply with the policies and procedures of the Corporation;
  • Should be familiar with the operation of the clerical and reception areas of the office and assist when needed, including the management of patient records and files;
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and monitor its operation, reporting any problems to the appropriate persons;
  • Take initiative for professional advancement through personal assessment of strengths and weaknesses;
  • May be directed to assist with the development and revision of manuals, OSHA manuals, policies, procedures and charges pertaining to nursing care;
  • May assist with the selection of supplies, materials and equipment used in the offices and maintain adequate supplies as needed;
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area at all times; May be directed to initiate, administer and evaluate infection control standards for the office; Maintain OSHA regulations in the office;
  • Promote team approach and a positive image of WRA to everyone with whom contact is made through exceptional customer service;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have a BS degree in nursing from an accredited school;
  • Must have a minimum of two years patient care experience, preferably in critical care or radiology nursing;
  • Must have demonstrated proficiency in IV administration techniques;
  • Must maintain current Advanced Cardiac Life Support/CPR certification;
  • Must present registered nurses license for the state you are working in, maintain credentials through continuing education programs and provide copy to manager at time of renewal;
  • Should be able to lift and move patients as required.
