Job Description

Job Description
Salary: $50,000

Department: Organizing

Job Status: Regular - Full-time

FLSA Status: Exempt

Reports to: Deputy Program Director

Salary Level: 1

Amount of Travel Required: Frequent local or in-state travel to events.

Location: Remote

Positions Supervised: None

WHO WE ARE:

Red Wine & Blue is a national community of diverse suburban women working together to defeat extremism, one friend at a time (best explained by this Washington Post profile, ‘Blue’ suburban moms are mobilizing to counter conservatives and this NYT episode of “The Daily,” Why Suburban Women Changed Their Minds). We are seeking a Regional Organizer to help us engage women, expand our networks and encourage organizing in suburban communities within the suburbs of Columbus, Ohio.

WHO YOU ARE: You are a multi-tasking whiz with strong interpersonal, communication and data skills who has a vast network in our targeted counties and beyond. You live for the thrill of bringing women together to make change.

This role does not directly supervise any team members, reports to the Ohio state Deputy Program Director, and is a full-time position based out of your home office in the suburbs of Columbus, Ohio. Frequent travel may be required to attend relevant events within the state. Occasional travel is required for in-person meetings and all-staff gatherings.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Increase our supporter base in targeted suburbs and spread the word about RWB in these communities through direct contact, social media, and events
  • Maintain relationships with supporters and update them on RWB events, initiatives and programs
  • Plan and schedule in-person and virtual events to build community and increase engagement with RWB
  • Act as an on the ground presence for org-wide campaigns, programs and initiatives
  • Train women on organizing techniques and give them the confidence they need to become politically active and engaged
  • Participate in content creation for RWB, including videos, virtual events and social media posts
  • Support earned media opportunities by participating in interviews with media outlets
  • Research organizations and build coalitions with key groups in your area to expand RWB’s reach for the next election cycle
  • Stay informed and knowledgeable of local and statewide political issues, legislation and monitor local races and potential candidates for office, keeping state leaders up-to-date on happenings in your region.
  • Represent RWB as an ambassador for our values and a local embodiment of our national campaigns.
  • Support the RWB organizing team with national and statewide events and attend team meetings
  • Maintain state social media pages and share RWB digital content and events on your personal social media
  • Maintain ongoing communication with the State and Deputy Program Directors and seek out support when you hit obstacles
  • Foster an inspiring team environment with open communication and effective cross-functional collaboration.
  • Possess the ability to navigate coaching conversations with team members
  • Other duties as assigned

WHAT YOU’VE GOT:

  • Relationship Builder: You’re the one your friends (and their friends) call or text or message on Facebook to find out what’s going on at school or in the community. You thrive at inspiring other women to get involved because you know how to make it feel social and fun. You love building community among women to reach a common goal – and you are excited about finding ways to keep that community engaged and empowered.
  • Connected: You understand the power of personal relationships and want to encourage others to find their voice and understand their ability to influence their networks.
  • Socially Savvy: You like talking to individuals one-on-one as well as talking to groups – you are a people person. You enjoy communicating on social media and love using communication and digital tools.
  • Technologically Savvy: You are excited to learn and use new technology for data and communication. Experience using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) is preferred. You have a willingness to learn new systems and utilize technology to support working smarter, not harder.
  • Inclusive: You can work effectively with people regardless of age, race, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, political background or job type. You understand how to connect on shared values with women who don’t consider themselves to be “political” or who may disagree with you on some issues. You believe in the power of relationships based on trust and excel at meeting people where they are, then helping them gradually move where you want them to go.
  • Flexible: You are comfortable navigating sometimes ambiguous work with competing priorities. You are nimble and can effectively shift focus when the need arises.
  • Organized & Productive: You have the ability to radically prioritize tasks and plan your days to meet goals. You thrive at managing projects remotely.
  • Growth Mindset: You have the ability to fail fast and win fast because you know that we learn as much from failure as we do success. You are not afraid to take risks, think outside the box and give or receive feedback. You are willing to put yourself out there whether it is speaking in public, creating videos or talking to reporters.
  • Playfully Passionate: Your ability to get sh*t done is accompanied by your love for fun. You understand that we can do serious work without taking ourselves too seriously.

WHAT WE OFFER

The salary for this position is $50,000. We take pay equity seriously and work hard to ensure our team members are paid fairly regardless of their gender, race, or other demographic backgrounds. In addition to a competitive salary, we cover 75% of employee medical, dental, and vision insurance premiums. We are a mom-led, family-friendly organization that also covers a generous portion of dependent premiums and allows for a flexible work schedule. We provide paid vacation and sick leave and a generous holiday schedule including a one-week winter break. We strongly encourage women, people of color, people with disabilities, non-binary candidates, and LGBTQIA candidates to apply.

All Red Wine & Blue staff members work remotely, running virtual operations nationally and on the ground in five states. Candidates for this position must live within the suburbs of Columbus, Ohio.

APPLICATION: Interested candidates should submit their application here to apply. You’ll be asked to include a resume and cover letter describing specifically why you want to work at Red Wine & Blue (we’re unique – we want to know why you think you’d love it here. Have fun!)

Applications received by Friday, January 26th will be given preferential consideration. If you have questions regarding the posted position, please email people@redwine.blue.
