Job Description

The Director of Kid’s Quest is a full-time position that provides direction and oversight for the entire Kids Quest ministry (infant – 5th grade) at the Tysons Location. The Director of Kid’s Quest provides leadership, training, support and oversight to all Kids’ Quest staff & volunteers. The Kid’s Quest Director works closely with the Tysons Location Pastor, Central Children’s Director, and Central Director of Training, and is responsible for the implementation and development of programming for the spiritual formation of children, as well as the equipping of parents to fulfill their calling as the primary disciple makers of their children.


Duties and responsibilities:

  • To develop, manage, and implement a cohesive strategy for Kid’s Quest at MBC Tysons which aligns with the vision, mission, and goal of greater MBC
  • To recruit, train, direct, evaluate, and encourage a ministry team (paid and non-paid) that is effectively encouraging and equipping kids to be disciples of Jesus Christ who make disciples
  • To equip and to assist parents in making disciples of their children
  • To identify and provide resources that make disciple-making in and through the home natural and easy for Kid’s Quest Families
  • To review, purchase, and oversee the implementation of all curriculums for the teaching environments (Nursery, Preschool, & Elementary)
  • To establish, implement, and hold accountable all Kid’s Quest staff and volunteers to adhere to MBC’s safety and security policies that protect minors in our care
  • To develop and maintain safe, clean, and aesthetically pleasing learning environments for children
  • To strategically plan, alongside the broader MBC Kid’s Quest team, catalytic events and activities geared toward disciple-making
  • To oversee all programming and ministry for children ages birth – 5th grade, including Sunday mornings, summer programming, special events, etc.
  • To oversee and develop the Awana staff team at Tysons
  • To oversee childcare for Family Ministries and all-church events as directed including, but not limited to, productions, annual church meetings, ministry seminars, some in-building Church Groups, Christmas Eve, etc.
  • To oversee check-in and tracking procedures, including recruiting and managing KQ Check-in volunteers and personnel for tracking weekly attendance
  • To oversee and develop the annual budget for Kid’s Quest Ministry, while managing monthly expense reports to track ministry spending
  • To commit to membership of MBC through ongoing involvement in a Church Group
  • To perform limited ministerial functions such as visitation, administrative tasks, assimilation tasks, etc. as assigned by the MBC Tysons Location Pastor
  • The position supervises and provides direction to the overall Kids Quest team, along with direct supervision of the Kids Quest Operations Manager, Early Childhood Manager, Elementary Manager, and Awana staff team.
  • To assist in overall church leadership by using giftedness to develop effective ministries at MBC Tysons.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two years of experience directing a children’s ministry, including leadership of ministry staff (paid or volunteer staff members and/or a large volunteer team of 25+ volunteers).
  • BA or BS degree desirable

  • A person who is able to relate to children and their families, and has a passion to see families grow in their faith together.
  • A person who is a humble learner - one who will continually gain insight and develop ways to improve the next generation ministries of the church.
  • A person who is an effective communicator - one who is able to effectively communicate both verbally and written.
