Engineering Manager

Opportunity

The Engineering Manager is responsible for the overall operation and strategic vision of Made by Ann Sacks produced in Portland, Oregon. Responsibilities of this position include the safety of the operation, product quality, service levels, cost, and sustainability. The associate is responsible for the oversight of product design and development, raw material sourcing, tooling and equipment, production planning, product costing and budgeting, manufacturing, and customer service.  Strategic efforts should ensure on-time delivery of products that meet all quality requirements to meet targeted sales margins.  This plan should also target overall facility and process capacity, cycle time reduction, production flow, reduction in waste and minimization of work-in-process inventory. 

Specific Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe work environment for all associates through utilization of the Kohler Safety Management System.
  • Manage overall facility and process specific capacity to ensure target service levels (lead times) are achieved across all product lines.
  • Develop, implement, and supervise effective quality controls that not only approach zero defective product shipments, but also quickly identify and resolve root cause quality exceptions.
  • Develop, implement, and supervise efficient production techniques that reduce costs and in support of achieving financial goals.
  • Manage facility environmental impact and sustainability goals aligned with Kohler 2035 initiative.
  • Develop new product designs and implement an effective introduction of new products including knowledge of the technical capabilities required to produce current and future products in support of the merchandising group.
  • Develop and maintain costing systems, in coordination with accounting, to accurately reflect product costs in the standard costing model.
  • Develop and maintain production and costing information to support SAP. (Standard Cost)
  • Participant in monthly financial close/projection process and annual budgeting process.
  • Develop, track and communicate metrics for safety, production, delivery (LOTIF), quality, and cost to the plant floor and throughout the organization.
  • Ensure that an aggressive implementation plan for lean manufacturing is followed in support of KOS. 
  • Ensure that all products going out the factory door are consistent with quality and Ann Sacks brand expectations, inclusive of packaging.
  • Responsible for the sourcing of domestic and internationally sourced raw materials, tooling and equipment to support manufacturing.
  • Grow and develop high-performing employees through consistent, meaningful, and frank feedback guidance and educational efforts. 
  • Other duties as required by management.

Skills/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required. 
  • Minimum of 8 years of manufacturing supervision experience in a highly detailed, design driven, and customer service focused production environment.
  • Experience in ceramics and/or glass manufacturing strongly preferred.

The salary range for this position is $113,000 - $143,950. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location.  Available benefits include medical, dental, vision & 401k.
