If so, we might have just the opportunity you're looking for!Our team works on-site 9x80 schedule located at our REC facility with every other Friday off!Responsibilities Include:Idaho National Laboratory’s (INL) Network and Communications group is seeking forward-thinking professionals interested in exploring a technical career as an Embedded Software Engineer to work with a team of engineers and technologists to execute on our critical national security mission. Embedded software engineers design, develop, code, test, and troubleshoot embedded system software, and they analyze, monitor, and improve system efficiency and stability. They interface with hardware design and development. They are the designers of the first layer of code that runs on a device and need a full understanding of its hardware. Embedded software engineers know the schematics of hardware and have chip data sheets related to the codes written for them. They develop and implement embedded devices and systems and support software quality assurance while optimizing system performance.  They develop code for multiple layers of software from the physical layer up to the application layer.An Embedded Software Engineer responsibilities include:Designing and implementing software of embedded devices and systemsDesigning, developing, coding, testing and debugging system softwareAnalyzing and enhancing efficiency, stability, and scalability of system resourcesEssential Job Functions and Responsibilities: (Knowledge, skills, and behaviors required for this position.)Design and implement software for embedded devices and systems from requirements to production and commercial deployment.Engage with internal and external organizations to develop new R&D capabilities and products. Ensure work is performed in a safe, secure, cost-effective, and compliant manner, consistent with the INL mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures and within defined cost, scope, and schedule.Maintain and enhance technical skills and other capabilities in support of the INL mission.Design, develop, code, test and debug system software.Review code and designAnalyze and enhance efficiency, stability and scalability of system resourcesIntegrate and validate new product designsSupport software QA and participate in coding/design/peer reviews Optimize system performanceProvide post-production supportInterface with hardware design and developmentAssess third party and open source softwareDevelop design documentation, maintenance and configuration of wireless communication systems, and research and development of advanced wireless communication techniques.Coordinate and participate in architecture, requirements, design, code, and test case reviews.Develop new embedded architectures to support our growing product development plans.Involvement begins at system requirement definition and continues through system verification and testConduct research, development, demonstration, and deployment for wireless communications technologies.Mentor junior staff and look for opportunities to involve them in current projects.Works on problems of diverse scope. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practical and consistent with organizational objectives.Works under only general direction. Normally receives little instruction day-to-day. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions. Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.Contributes to completion of specific programs and projects. Failure to obtain results or erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in program delays.Frequent internal organizational customer contacts. May have some outside contact or represent organization in providing solutions to difficult issues associated with specific projects or work.Minimum Requirements:·       PR0300: Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience, Masters degree and 3 years of experience, PhD and 2 years of experience. ·       PR0400: Bachelor's degree and 8 years of experience, Masters degree and 6 years of experience, PhD and 4 years of experience.·       BS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or directly related field from an ABET-accredited institution. ·       Proficiency in C, C++, Python or similar languages Experience with system integration activities·       Complete understanding and wide application of principles, theories and concepts in field of specialization. General knowledge of other related disciplines. Resolves a wide range of issues in creative ways. This job is fully qualified, career oriented. ·       This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance which requires US Citizenship.
