The candidate will significantly contribute to the development of modern data services for BMS’s research scientists.Job DescriptionBristol Myers Squibb seeks an experienced Computational “Lab" Engineer for Research Compute Environment. You will be responsible for executing an ambitious digital strategy to support BMS’s informatics and predictive science capabilities in Research. The successful candidate will partner closely with computational research teams, IT leadership, and various technical functions to design and deliver digital solutions that streamline access to computing & data, and help scientists derive insight and value from their research.Job FunctionsThe role requires someone who can seamlessly mesh technical knowledge to help navigate R&D cloud, CoLo, and on-premise computing needs, including planning, infrastructure design, maintenance, and support.The role will lead the development of infrastructure that enables interoperability and comparability of data sets derived from different technologies and biological systems in the context of integrative data analysis. The candidate will create and maintain optimal data pipeline architectures that enable scientific workflow and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams of data curators, software engineers, data scientists and computational biologists as we test new hypotheses through the novel integration of emerging research data types.The work will combine careful resource planning and project management with hands-on data manipulation and implementation of data integration workflows.Partner with corresponding region/site computational scientists to design, deploy, and maintain digital environments to support their needsPartner extensively with the internal IT data engineering teams to streamline the flow of data into research informatics platformsPartner with the internal IT Cloud and Cybersecurity engineering teams to rapidly deliver secure cloud capabilitiesPartner with the IT infrastructure teams to ensure that servers, storage, network, and other infrastructure are suitable for research use casesEnable and support Research scientists conducting scientific experiments in the research compute environment locally or distributed across our geographical footprint.Develop strong relationships with Computational Research leads and manage ongoing roadmap updates to leadership including the corresponding IT Business PartnersTake responsibility for training, education, and awareness of computational research environment capabilities and work actively with Research leads to drive adoption across Informatics & Predictive Sciences teamsManage bespoke vendor relationships for research informatics services and handle renewals, license procurement, cost savings, and user issuesJob Requirements2+ years of leadership experience delivering digital solutions in a high technologyStrong verbal and written communications skillsGood understanding of agile development practices and comfort acting as a product ownerWorking knowledge of two or more programming languagesDatabase experience, including knowledge of SQL and NoSQL toolsProficiency in shell scripting (BASH, SH, CSH)Extensive experience with open-source technology, software development and system engineeringExperience managing technical vendors and outsourced providersBonus certifications: AWS Solutions Architect, Cloud Security Certification, OpenStack Administrator CertificationBristol-Myers Squibb is an equal opportunity employer.
