Come be a part of our mission!Th Integrated Digital Systems (IDS) Department at Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is looking for you to join our team as an SW Engineering Manager 1 or 2. This position is fully on-site at our Woodland Hills, CA office. This position is split between 20% functional management and 80% direct program support, with the program support being a combination of technical and managerial responsibilities. The functional management role involves personnel management of a group of engineers including career development, staffing, goal setting, performance reviews, and compensation planning. The technical role will focus on avionics software development, tool development, avionics capabilities design, development, and management, as well as data distillation.What You’ll Get to Do:Develop software for mission critical systems in all phases of the software development lifecycle, primarily in C/C++ or Python.Assist in the development and implementation of department vision and strategies to drive employee engagement; improve hiring, development, training and retention of top talent; balance process compliance against innovation; and reduce bureaucracyManage personnel assignments in a highly dynamic and fast-paced research environmentConduct performance and salary reviewsMentor, challenge, and identify opportunities for team members to develop skills needed to pursue tailored career/development pathsDevelop and implement strong processes with emphasis on quantitative management, continuous improvement, and usage of common processes across programs, as appropriateEnsure organizational compliance with corporate/sector/organizational policies/proceduresProvide management guidance to achieve outstanding cost, schedule and technical performance.Responsible for technical guidance and oversight in developing technical and cost proposalsThis requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed belowThis requisition may be filled at either a Level 1 or Level 2.Basic Qualifications for Manager SW Engineering Level 1:To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:Bachelor’s of Science in EE, CE, or CS disciplines and a minimum of 5 years of progressively increasing responsibility and engineering experience or a Master’s of Science in EE, CE, or CS disciplines and a minimum of 3 years of progressive engineering experience.Experience working in C/C++, Python, and/or Ada and/or SimulinkExperience with full software lifecycle: specification, design, implementation, integration, debug and maintenanceProficiency in working with real time embedded softwareDemonstrated effective written and oral communication skillsA proven track record of a track record of leading a team of software developersU.S. citizenshipAbility to obtain a Secret and additional project-specific clearance.Ability to work onsite full-timeBasic Qualifications for Manager SW Engineering Level 2:To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:Bachelor’s of Science in EE, CE, or CS disciplines and a minimum of 9 years of progressively increasing responsibility and engineering experience or a Master’s of Science in EE, CE, or CS disciplines and a minimum of 7 years of progressively increasing engineering experience, or 4 years of experience with a Ph.D.Experience working in C/C++, Python, and/or Ada and/or SimulinkExperience with full software lifecycle: specification, design, implementation, integration, debug and maintenanceProficiency in working with real time embedded softwareDemonstrated effective written and oral communication skillsA proven track record of a track record of leading a team of software developersU.S. citizenshipAbility to obtain a Secret and additional project-specific clearance.Ability to work onsite full-timePreferred Qualifications:Master’s of Science or Ph.D. degree in a relevant engineering discipllineProficiency with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and/or Model Based Software DesignExperience in designing and implementing software complying to Airworthiness RequirementsExperience working in an Agile Software Development environmentExperience developing software under Agile/DevSecOps frameworkExperience in real-time embedded software development knowledge of Radar, Electronic Warfare, or Space technologiesExperience with automated pipeline testingExperience working with Avionics software development teamsExperience in Open Architecture SolutionsExperience with Scripting languages (e.g., Python, Ruby, JavaScript, Bash) and Test Driven Development (TDD)Experience with MATLABExperience with High Performance ComputingHolds an active Secret clearance.Salary Range: $126,600.00 - $189,800.00Salary Range 2: $151,900.00 - $227,900.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
