If so, we might have just the opportunity you're looking for!Idaho National Laboratory’s (INL) Advanced Test Reactor (ATR) Design Engineering group is seeking forward-thinking professionals interested in exploring a career as a Mechanical Design Engineer.Our team works an on-site 4x10 schedule located at our ATR facility with every Friday off!Responsibilities Include:Perform nuclear Project and Design engineering work involving implementation of unique nuclear engineering codes, standards, and technical specifications not typical to similar non-nuclear systems and components.Apply Mechanical Engineering support for the ATR Safety Related and Important to Safety nuclear and nuclear support systems.Demonstrate broad expertise or unique knowledge. Use skills to contribute to development of company objectives and principles and to achieve goals in creative and effective ways. Exercise judgement in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.Perform work without appreciable direction. Determine methods and procedures on new assignments and potentially coordinate activities of other personnel. Determine and pursue courses of action necessary to obtain desired results. Work reviewed through consultation and/or agreement with others rather than by formal review of superior.Prepare and approve imaginative, thorough engineering solutions for the correction of general mechanical nuclear systems and components material deficiencies.Identify and approve nuclear system/component modification, replacement or refurbishment where deemed appropriate.Supervise and/or direct development of engineering documents for nuclear systems and components, including formal technical evaluations, temporary system modifications, engineering jobs, technical specifications, engineering calculation and analysis reports, subcontractor statement of work, electronic change requests, operational evaluations, issue management records, and non-compliance reports.Evaluate and approve vendors and subcontractors for required capabilities, qualifications and certifications required to support on-site fabrication, installation, and modifications of nuclear and non-nuclear support systems.Work with INL Subcontractor Field Representatives in the oversight and management of subcontracted nuclear project work performed at the ATR Complex.Initiate and approve engineering documents from subcontract engineering firms including large component procurements, design and fabrication activities, engineering calculations, new equipment and system designs, technical and functional requirements, and technical drawings for use in the ATR nuclear systems and support systems to ensure compliance with ATR nuclear technical and safety basis requirements.Lead technical projects involving multidisciplinary activities as directed by the Projects Engineering Manager.QualificationsMinimum Requirements:Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field and 5-8 years of experience or Advanced Degree and 3-6 years of experience.This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.Job InformationSalary Grade: PR0300 - 220 - ($107,520 - $177,336) / PR0400 - 230 - ($121,212 - $206,232)Chosen applicants are required to show a demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working environment.TDP-Testing Designated Position: You will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.Multi-Level: This is a multi-level posting and the selected candidate will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on depth and breadth of proven experience and skills.INL is a science-based, applied engineering national laboratory dedicated to supporting the U.S. Department of Energy’s mission in nuclear energy research, science, and national defense.
