Employment Type:Full timeShift:Description:POSITION PURPOSEThis position is responsible leading and achieving the organization’s operating goals and performance plan and ensuring strategic implementation around leadership, quality, service, financial performance, and growth objectives both proactively and in response to the changing healthcare industry. The COO will partner as a dyad leader with the respective Central Iowa Division Market CMO and in concert with the medical staff, medical group leadership, established service line leaders and other colleagues to achieve the operational and strategic objectives of the ministry.The position will foster an organizational culture of committed colleagues serving the healing ministry with focus on competencies that support values of respect, social justice, care of the poor and underserved, compassion and excellence. The COO will establish and maintain a participative management and engaged organizational climate that develops and maintains talent and inclusiveness within and throughout the market.This position is based out of Waterloo, IA. Shares accountability for the achievement of divisional performance metrics, including development.Regional Accountability and Responsibility: The COO reports to the Central Iowa Division President. The COO is accountable for the selection, evaluation, and overall success of the senior leadership team within assigned market. Strategic Thinking: Participates in the formation of the division’s vision and strategic plan and the development and achievement of its goals and objectives. The vision and operational plan must be aligned with regional and system strategies and objectives. Oversees the market’s analysis of community needs and the development of supportive programs and services, especially for the poor, populations at risk and the underserved.Clinical Delivery: Partners with the respective market CMO on the development and implementation of integrated clinical service delivery platforms within assigned market and ensures integration and alignment within the division. Champions physician alignment strategies that lead to growth. Ensures the coordination of actions and realization of service efficiencies that drive increased quality and responsiveness to marketplace needs.Mission and Diversity: Provides leadership in the support and sustainment of an organizational culture that celebrates a diverse community of committed persons serving the healing ministry with focus on developing competencies that support values of respect, social justice, care of the poor and underserved, compassion and excellence.Talent Development: Mentors and develops the senior leadership team, fostering achievement of goals and objectives, high performing leadership practices, collaboration, innovation, and interdependence. Participates in succession planning and supports talent development initiatives. Employs participative management and leadership approaches that optimize organization resources and talent effectiveness and organizational learning.Community: Leads applicable governance process and works with community leaders to advance the mission of the hospital’s strategic and philanthropic plans. Actively participates in associations and groups within the market. Establishes and maintains relationships with key community and state leaders to facilitate the accomplishment of divisional, regional and system goals and objectives.Regulatory and Compliance: Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health's Organizational Integrity Program, standards of conduct, ethics, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSAssists the President and Divisional Executive Leadership Team and Market Senior Leadership Team in developing and deploying long and short-range plans designed to enhance strategic position of organization. Collaborates with department leaders and medical directors to develop and implement systems to achieve outcomes consistent with the organization’s strategic imperatives and inclusive of the Trinity Health Balanced Score Card. Provides primary support to the Division President in leading operational goals and improvements for the Market Senior Leadership Team and organization. Serves on or delegates an accountable executive to serve on boards of the organization's Joint Ventures to ensure operational success and compliance. Oversees the development, negotiation, and successful implementation of contractual relationships with physician groups and/or providers, ensuring patient needs are met in a high quality and cost-effective manner. Ensures compliance with state and federal licensure requirements, accreditation, and regulatory agencies. Represents MercyOne in community activities and promotes MercyOne with other health agencies and groups either directly or through delegation of authority and responsibility. Takes an active role in enhancing ability to carry out job functions through personal and professional/job-related growth and development. Participates in medical center and/or departmental education programs. Communicates with and performs duties following the philosophy of MercyOne and Trinity Health, reflecting the organization’s mission, vision, and values. Maintains required department confidentiality and abides by HIPAA regulations. Supports and abides by all medical center, departmental, and safety policies and procedures. Proactively identifies safety concerns surrounding the work environment.
