THE POSITION

The Environmental Protection Department seeks dedicated individuals to protect Pennsylvania's residents and environment. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Air Quality Engineering Trainee, you will engage in a comprehensive one-year training program, combining formal instruction with hands-on experience to grasp the responsibilities of an Air Quality Engineering Specialist. You will assist with evaluating applications for plan approval and operating permits concerning air pollution sources and control mechanisms. Subsequently, you will be required to provide recommendations to the Regional Program Manager and Environmental Engineer Manager based on a meticulous assessment of these applications for approval or rejection.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days a week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Pittsburgh.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of engineering experience, and possession of a valid Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or
  • A bachelor's degree in the field of engineering.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree


Condition of Employment:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver's license.
