DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Your role involves delivering exceptional customer service to various stakeholders at PennDOT Welcome Centers, such as travelers, tourism partners, employees, and vendors. You will assist travelers by providing essential information about visiting Pennsylvania, including directions and hotel options to promote travel within the state. Enhance PennDOT's tourism outreach by engaging in special programs, tours, travel shows, and events to strengthen partnerships with the industry. Be prepared to undertake additional travel-related tasks as assigned by your supervisor or division manager to support Welcome Center operations. You must maintain proactive and informative communication to improve operations within the Welcome Center Division, including direct interaction with the Tourist Information Supervisor to address any questions, concerns, or suggestions related to staff and operations.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Hours of operation are 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
  • Work hours are temporarily 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • You will be required to report to work during periods of inclement weather, unless directed otherwise, as part of PennDOT's mission is to serve the traveling public.
  • The location of the PennDOT Welcome Center is: I-90 West, 1/2-mile West of New York Border, Northeast, PA 16428
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience in work involving public contact; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:
  • You must be willing and able to work in and commute to Erie County Welcome Center, I-90 W 1/2-mile W of NY Border, North East, PA 16428.
  • You must have one year of customer service experience
  • You must have one year of work experience involving public contact
  • You must have experience working with computers.
  • You must have experience answering phones, composing emails; compiling reports; tracking office activities and inventory; data entry; and filing.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
