Summary: 

Performs clerical functions on the unit under the supervision of the charge nurse. 

 Essential Functions:

1.       Prepares medical record for new admissions

2.       Disassembles the patient chart after discharge

3.       Maintains required logs in the department

4.       Answers the telephone, door, patient call light in a polite manner and communicates the information to the appropriate staff member in a timely manner.

5.       Assist physician with locating charts

6.       Faxes, scans paperwork as needed for nurses and physicians

   7.    Takes inventory of supplies that need to be ordered

Required Education: 

High school diploma or equivalent is required.  Proof of education within 30 days of hire.

 

Other:

Understanding of medical terminology, basic computer skills, typing, previous secretary experience is preferred
