Position Summary

Zion Church Greenbelt has a need for an experienced full-time Senior Facilities Technician to support the Zion Greenbelt Facilities Department is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the Zion Greenbelt Campus. Under the direction of the Facilities Operations Manager this vital team member will independently perform a wide range of general maintenance duties in the areas of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, and drywalling. They will also assist the events staff with the set-up, change-over, and breakdown for special events and programs. The Facilities Team is committed to a spirit of excellence with a desire to serve God’s people with warmth and a spirit of hospitality. 


Essential Duties  

  • Performs a variety of basic routine maintenance duties and repairs, as directed by the Facilities Operations Manager.
  • Carries out intermediate level repairs for one or more of these disciplines: painting, plumbing, electric and HVAC.
  • Operates a variety of equipment including, hand tools, saws, power tools, power lifts, pressure washers and lawn equipment.
  • Accountable for minor repairs and maintenance of the building’s door hardware.
  • Assists in the relocation of furniture throughout the facility, adjusts and repairs desks, chairs, filing cabinets along with other office furniture.
  • Conducts regular inspections of the building, and campus grounds for routine maintenance and repairs.
  • Ensures the parking lot light “time” clocks are in-sync to turn on or off for each season to coincide with nightfall and daylight.
  • Completes errands and driving assignments for Zion’s other campuses and offices as needed or requested.
  • Assists in the routine building maintenance and repairs and any other related duties as assigned within a team-oriented environment.
  • Serves as the Facilities Operations Manager designee and point of contact for facility operations and maintenance related activities or issues in their absence.


Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills

  • The ability to read and comprehend instructions in English.
  • Must have a clean driving record and be able to pass a background check.
  • A High School Diploma or G.E.D. is required.
  • An associates degree in construction, electrical or mechanical engineering or Journeyman's certification is preferred but not required.
  • 5-7 years of daily and hands-on expertise conducting minor repairs for a commercial building.
  • Must be available to work on Saturdays and Sundays as dictated by the events scheduling.
  • Great verbal and written communication skills for interfacing with vendors, internal and external clients utilizing the facility, and the Facilities Team.
  • The physical ability to lift and or move up to 60 pounds, climb ladders, move furniture and equipment.
  • A proven problem-solving capability to troubleshoot and fix routine building maintenance incidents.
  • Must be ability to work independently and be adaptable to change based on the needs of the facility, staff and events scheduled.
  • Familiarity with a facilities software maintenance ticketing system.
