Intercontinental Engineering – Manufacturing Corporation is a heavy machinery manufacturer looking for a CNC Programmer interested in working with large weldments and machined parts (40,000 lbs. +). Intercon fabricates, machines, paints, and assembles products for the commercial marine, defense and mining industries.

Requirements

This position regularly interacts with suppliers, customers, manufacturing, quality, and other peers in the engineering department. Interpersonal skills are the key to success as this position regularly leads groups of peers from production to complete jobs on time. Persons in this role must have a solid analytical approach to decision making and problem solving, and above all, be consistent in performance and decision making.

You will

  • Develop and implement programs required for operation of multi-axis CNC horizontal boring mills and manual machining equipment
  • Validate CNC programs in Eureka
  • Document set-up, operation and adjustments of manual lathes and horizontal boring mills
  • Write CNC programs and verify both the accuracy and completeness of these programs
  • Select or design cutting tools, and program feeds and speeds to optimize tool life
  • Select or design work holding tools and fixtures
  • Update existing 3D solid models, 2D CAD drawings or paper drawings to newest revisions
  • Writes or edits CNC programs using data from paper prints and 2D or 3D CAD data
  • Recommends and implements improvements to engineering design and manufacturability
  • Generates set-up sheets and standard work documentation
  • Train employees on CNC machining, setup and troubleshooting to develop consistent skill sets

Ideal candidates would have the following qualifications:

  • 6 to 8 years of experience in either a tool and die shop or precision machining center, and minimum 5 years of experience with CNC programming, including set-up, and operation of CNC machining equipment of multi-axis machines
  • Associates Degree or Machinist Certification a plus
  • Must be proficient in G-code programming, tooling selection, machine maintenance, quality inspection, blueprint reading, shop math, and the use of precision instruments including but not limited to scales, calipers and micrometers
  • Extensive CNC program writing and editing knowledge
  • Demonstrated competency with 3D modeling software
  • Possesses excellent working knowledge of cutting tools and fixture concepts
  • Able to program manually if necessary, design tooling and fixtures, and interpret part drawings
  • Able to work extended hours as necessary to support machine shop
  • Experience with AutoDesk Inventor, CAD/CAM software experience
  • Familiarity with GD&T
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • Works well with little supervision
