Job Description

Job Description

You will use your expertise in data engineering and programming to build systems that collect, manage and convert raw data into usable information for data scientists and data analysts. This requires transforming large amounts of data into formats that can be processed and analyzed. You will design and implement methods to improve data reliability and quality, as well as develop analytical tools and programs to support data extraction and transformation for predictive or prescriptive modeling.

Key skills and qualification include:

  • Ability to build and optimize data sets, ‘big data’ data pipelines and architectures
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis on external and internal processes and data to identify opportunities for improvement and answer questions
  • Knowledge of programming languages (especially Python)
  • Hands-on experience with SQL database design
  • Technical expertise with data models, data mining, and segmentation techniques
  • Knowledge of SQL and AWS technologies

Requirements

The following are REQUIRED qualifications for this position:

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Business Information Systems) or equivalent relevant experience.

• 5+ years of experience designing and developing databases and other applications on classified IC networks.

• Demonstrated extensive knowledge of developing custom scripts, procedures, queries, and user interfaces for SQL databases on classified IC networks.

• Experience with designing logical data architectures and conducting data extraction, parsing, and manipulation.

• Demonstrated experience utilizing large scale data flow and conditioning technologies (Hadoop, Elastic Map-Reduce, Snowflake, Apache NiFi, etc.) to build production datasets for analytics purposes.

• Demonstrated experience developing and communicating technical specifications of databases to technical and non-technical audiences, including entity relationship diagrams, data schemas, and data systems architecture.

• Extensive knowledge of available IC cloud systems and services on classified networks, preferably for those services available on AWS.

• Experience developing and maintaining interfaces between data resources (databases, data lakes, etc.) and analytics software applications (Tableau, PowerBI, Kibana, Grafana, etc.)

• Experience with Tableau software suite, including Server, Prep, and Conductor.

• Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy.

The following are DESIRED qualifications for this position:

• Experience developing and communicating metrics in the IC, specifically on (a) how IC collection and analytic products are aligned to intelligence needs and questions; (b) the IC’s responsiveness to requirement and changes in intelligence priorities; (c) IC’s reliance on the variety of intelligence collection disciplines.

• 4+ years of experience with data analysis and methodological research supporting analytic issues.

• Demonstrated experience designing, testing, and managing software tools to support assessment and metrics production on large, aggregated datasets.

• Knowledge of tools in at least one of the following: statistics, mathematics, econometrics, operations research, survey design and analysis, or IT.

• Experience designing, testing, and managing IT tools to support assessments.

• Experience conducting data extraction, parsing, manipulation and storage.

• Experience developing and deploying APIs for secure application access to data stores.

• Experience with working successfully in an analytic team environment.
