GA Family Services is seeking a full-time Family Time Specialist for our Supervised Visitation program.

This position transports youth to visitation with their parents in the home and community of the parents, throughout Chautauqua County and potentially beyond. The position coaches the parents during the visits, creates visitation plans, and facilitates the child and family’s ability to function successfully within the family and in the community upon discharge.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Relevant experience preferred. Experience with parenting, interventions with parents and youth, and knowledge of child development. Prior experience in Coached Family Visits Preferred. Bilingual English and Spanish Preferred. Must have reliable transportation and a valid NYS driver's license.


Salary Range:

$16.00 per hour minimum- $24.20 per hour maximum dependent upon experience.

  • Transports youth in out of home placements (the custody of Chautauqua County DHHS) to visits with their parents in the home and/or community of the parent.
  • Completes documentation for the case record and enters visitation progress notes into Connections within 48 hours of the visitation occurring.
  • Enhance family/caregiver’s ability to care for the child within the home or community by providing coaching to the parents in the visitation.
  • Assist the family/caregiver with understanding the child’s needs and provide techniques and information to better respond to the needs of the children.
  • Develops family coached visit plan with the parents before visitation starts.
  • Completes pre-visit meetings with parents, and post visit debriefing with parents.
  • Provide child and/or family support, guidance, mentoring, coaching and/or training to enhance successful functioning in the home, school or community within context of the child’s circumstances.
  • Assesses for safety of the parents’ home when conducting supervised visits and reports on conditions to the supervisor and county workers.
  • Maintains ongoing contact with the stakeholders on the case.
  • Tracks visit hours that occur, missed/canceled visits, and all referrals that are assigned.
  • Be familiar with emergency procedures and agency wide rules and administer them in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Recognize and practice the need for confidentiality.
  • Provide office coverage as needed.
  • Submits paperwork in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Drives in a safe manner, obeying all traffic laws.
  • Documentation of all contacts in progress notes.
  • Participate as a team member in the progress of the visitation plan and Treatment plan.
  • Maintains appropriate liaison with families, colleagues and staff of GA and referring agencies
  • Is flexible and works to solve problems in a positive manner.
  • Travels extensively using own vehicle.
  • Operates basic office equipment such as fax, computer, copier, cell phone, printer, personal vehicle and agency vehicle.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to the cultural and social-economic characteristics of persons served.
  • Assists other program staff as needed.
  • Possess a valid New York State driver’s license and to transport youth to and from destinations consistent with the services offered by the agency.
