Joseph J Magnolia has an immediate opening for an Estimator in our Washington DC office. Our work covers a vast array of high-profile clients in a wide variety of projects including, but not limited to, government local & federal, schools, healthcare, multi-family, pharmaceutical and medical manufacturing.
Job Responsibilities:
- Accurately take -off and quote self-performing work
- Utilize tremble software/quick-pen to build estimates
- Read and understand job bid instructions, plans, specifications, proposals and contracts
- Work in a team-oriented environment to transition awarded projects to the project management and accounting staff seamlessly.
- Represent JJ Magnolia at Pre-Bid Meetings
- Manage various RFPs for multiple clients public and private
- Manage the proposal process from conception to presentation
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Analyze estimates from subcontractors and suppliers to review for accuracy and to negotiate favorable pricing.
- Solicit subcontractor and material pricing, specific to each project. Review all incoming pricing for accuracy and completeness. Maintain relationships with our key subcontractor and supplier partners.
- Understand the unique requirements of each of our clients and bid on the projects accordingly
- Review estimated vs actual costs throughout the life cycle of project
- Valid driver’s license
- Education from college, trade school, or military
- 7+ years of related experience in the Mechanical & Plumbing estimating process
- Working knowledge of mechanical piping
- Reliable, detailed oriented, highly organized, and capable of handling several tasks
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
- Recognize a thorough understanding of the plumbing industry
- The ability to know local codes and to use available resources to find solutions
- Efficient management skills to improve the productivity of teams and work standards.
- Work with the operations team throughout the preconstruction process in reviewing plans and specifications for constructability issues and determining general requirements on the project
- Understand how to create proper bid packages and bid alternate strategies
- Ensure that all work items from scope review are included in estimate and that cost trail from bids to Bid Package Scope Analysis Worksheets and Checklists to estimate is clear and correct
- Prepare clear, properly formatted, Bid Package Scope Analysis Worksheets; review Bid Analysis Worksheets prepared by others on team for coordination
