As a Process Engineer you will contribute to the planning, developing, and implementing process improvement activities within the manufacturing plant in the fermentation area. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance yield, throughput, and operating efficiency while ensuring product quality and safety. You will Identify and implement process improvements that result in higher throughput, improved efficiencies, recognizable cost savings, and more consistent product quality
Experience in the chemical or food and beverage industry is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
•    Drive Process Improvement: Identify and implement innovative solutions to increase throughput, enhance efficiencies, reduce costs, and maintain consistent product quality.
•    Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to optimize yield, operating efficiency, and cost-effectiveness, while upholding safety and product quality standards.
•    Technical Expertise: Contribute to technical performance analysis of existing processes and systems, including fermentation, distillation, solids handling, size reduction, classification, packaging, and plant utilities.
•    Project Management: Participate in expense and capital projects, ensuring alignment with operational and budgetary requirements.
•    Documentation & Reporting: Develop, review, and maintain process engineering documentation, including mass and energy balances, PFDs, P&IDs, SOPs, and process data.
•    Equipment Selection & Implementation: Participate in selecting process equipment and instrumentation, collaborating with vendors and staying informed about new technologies.
•    Safety & Risk Management: Participate in process risk studies and prepare Management of Change evaluations, ensuring safe and compliant operations.
•    Problem-Solving & Root Cause Analysis: Support Operations and Maintenance in diagnosing and rectifying process capability issues, leading to sustainable improvements.
•    Cleaning & Sterilization Expertise: Possess a strong understanding of cleaning and sterilization procedures critical to large-scale fermentation processes.
Minimum Qualifications:
•    Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering; Or Mechanical Engineering degrees will be considered with demonstrated Process Engineering experience.
•    1-5 years of experience performing process improvements, equipment installations, and modifications in a large-scale fermentation manufacturing environment.
•    Experience in the food or chemical manufacturing industry is strongly preferred.
•    Proven ability to work effectively in a cleaning and sterilization-focused environment.
•    Strong understanding of unit operations, process design, mass & energy balances, and process data analysis.
•    Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications:
•    Six Sigma Black Belt or Lean manufacturing experience.
•    Working knowledge of SAP and/or DeltaV control systems.
