This Assistant Book Manager Position Is For You, If You Enjoy....

Book Operations Assistant Manager Key Responsibilities:
  • §Role models the behaviors expected of our booksellers and book supervisors by providing excellent customer service through handselling and customer engagement.
  • §Ensures weekly change out in bookstores and travel convenience stores is completed by book staff including placing reorders and ensuring promotional titles have signage and are stickered.
  • §Trains booksellers and book supervisors in all aspects of Hudson book operations.
  • §Coaches and manages booksellers and book supervisors.
  • §Assists with Go Spot Check compliance missions.
  • §Ensures Basil processes are being completed in each bookstore in a timely manner including ordering, receiving, and returns.
  • §Assists the Book Operations Manager with completing SAP book processes including working in the warehouse or receiving rooms when necessary.
  • §Ensure stores are merchandised to maximize sales potential of key titles.
  • §Manages each bookstores creative displays including artwork/drawings, book blurbs, and ordering for seasonal and regional displays.
  • §Creates and maintains themed sideline displays using book sidelines and works with book operations manager when reorders are needed.
  • §Manage day-to-day business issues and opportunities. Assist in overall location management & support as needed.


Required Qualifications:
  • At least one to three years previous bookstore experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of & interest in the book business and bookselling
  • Be proficient in Excel and computer skills
  • Be able to be on your feet for extended periods and be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Familiarity with Edelweiss, SAP, and/or Basil book system
  • Associates degree or above
  • Previous multi-store management experience (preferred)
