This position supports the Incarnate Word Ministries-U. S. and the mission of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, an international organization dedicated to education, healthcare and service to the underserved. The purpose of the Incarnate Word Ministries-U. S. is to support, promote and empower the living out of Christ's mission and the Congregational charism in the sponsored ministries. The Director of Mission, Engagement and Governance reports to the Board of Directors for the Incarnate Word Ministries-U. S. (Ministries-U. S.) This position works in collaboration and consultation with the Ministries-U. S. Board Chair and Board members in fulfilling her/his responsibilities, while also maintaining a direct relationship with the Chief Administrative Officer for administrative matters. This role is a member of the Generalate team and entails seamless collaboration with other department leaders. This position has the primary responsibility of carrying forward the mission and vision of the Ministries-U. S. and the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word on a daily basis and has oversight for ten Congregationally-sponsored ministries located in Texas, Missouri and Mexico. Representing the CCVI Congregational sponsorship with the Ministries-U. S. is an essential component of this position as well as providing governance support. The Director must be an experienced and energetic leader who embraces the mission and charism of the Congregation and the Catholic identity of its ministries.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing guidance and assistance as needed to each ministry; monitoring each ministry's fidelity to its mission; arranging formation opportunities for Board members and CEO's; providing an extensive orientation and training process for Board members, cultivating potential Board members; building inter-ministry relationships that support resource sharing, communication, strategic and financial planning, development and sustainability of each ministry.

This position supports the Incarnate Word US Ministries. and the mission of the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, an international organization dedicated to education, healthcare and service to the underserved. The purpose of the Incarnate Word US Ministries is to support, promote and empower the living out of Christ's mission and the Congregational charism in the sponsored ministries in the United States.

The Director of the Incarnate Word US Ministries reports to the Board of Directors for the Incarnate U. S. Word Ministries (US Ministries) to oversee and ensure the implementation of the specific authorities and responsibilities delegated from the General Leadership Team of the Congregation. This position works in collaboration and consultation with the Incarnate Word US Ministries Board Chair and Board members to ensure that each of the Incarnate Word US Ministries is faithful to and animates the Mission and Values of the Congregation; is of the highest quality relative to its particular service; and is financially viable and stable.

This position has the responsibility of oversight for ten Congregationally-sponsored ministries located in Texas and Missouri and serves as guide and consultant on matters of strategy and governance. The Director is part of the Generalate administration.

The Director must be an experienced leader who embraces the mission and charism of the Congregation and the Catholic identity of its ministries. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing guidance and assistance as needed to each ministry; monitoring each ministry's fidelity to its mission; arranging formation opportunities for Board members and CEO's; providing an extensive orientation and training process for Board members, cultivating potential Board members; building inter-ministry relationships that support resource sharing, communication, strategic and financial planning, development and sustainability of each ministry.

• Ensures that agendas and corporate minutes for all ministries and the Ministries-U. S. Board meetings are prepared and filed
• Works with Administrative Assistant to draft agendas and prepare resource materials for meetings of the Ministries-U. S. Board
• Provides support for Board reserve powers as delegated by the Congregation.
• Arranges for Board meetings, strategic planning retreats, annual meetings with sponsored ministries, and special events
• Promotes good communication and maintains good relationships with the CCVI General Leadership Team, sponsored ministries, Sisters, and collaborators
• This position is privy to confidential information and, as such, requires extreme discretion and diplomacy
• Coordinates Mother St. Pierre Fund Grant tracking and disbursement
• Reviews key financial and performance indicators for the Ministries, reporting to the Board regularly on the Ministries' performance.
• Prepares and proposes the Ministries U. S. budget for and tracks expenses monthly for the Board
• Coordinates the Board appointments to the Ministries that are direct US Ministry appointments and works with the Ministry leaders on Ministry Board appointees.
• Ensures that all new Board members of the Ministries are fully oriented to the structure, sponsorship and their board roles.
• Participates in ministry retreats, search committees, and orientation sessions as appropriate
• Meets regularly with the Chair of the Ministries-U. S. Board
• Informs the Chair and Board about legal and significant emergent issues on an ongoing basis
• Supervises the Administrative Assistant and the Ministries-U. S. office
• Fulfills other duties as requested by the Board of Ministries-U. S.

Reinforces relationships between the CCVI Congregation and Sponsored Ministries
• Arranges for regular meetings between the CEOs and Board Chairs with the Ministries-U. S. Board to encourage dialogue about Congregational expectations regarding the mission of each ministry and the meaning of "sponsorship"
• Arranges through the Heritage Center spiritual formation programs, retreats on the charism and spirituality of the Congregation, seminars on Catholic identity for specific ministries, and competency-based workshops on best administrative practices; for example, in conducting searches, budgeting, strategic planning and assessment.
• Facilitates initiatives that enable sponsored ministries to communicate their mission and activities to the Congregation
• Supports activities of the sponsored ministries through participation and other means
• Arranges for each of the Ministry annual reports to the Board of the Ministries-U. S. and to the General Leadership Team

Promote and strengthen the Catholic character, mission and sustainability of each Sponsored Ministry
• Assists the Board in monitoring each ministry's fidelity to its mission
• Ensures that the Boards of sponsored ministries adhere to the by-laws and are aware of reserved powers
• Assists the Boards in developing initiatives to:
Promote communication and understanding of the ministries' power of influence and advocacy through greater collaboration and interaction among sponsored ministries.
Promotes collaboration and networking among the ministries through the creation of infrastructure and processes necessary to facilitate collaborative efforts.
• Creates opportunities for annual gatherings and commissioning of co-ministers to prepare them for major leadership roles in Congregational ministries.

    • Works with the Incarnate Word US Ministries Board and the individual ministry leaders and Board to envision and implement strategic planning retreats, annual meetings with sponsored ministries, governance and mission formation and special events
    • Promotes good communication and maintains positive and collaborative relationships with the CCVI General Leadership Team, sponsored ministries, Sisters, and collaborators

Requirements:

Education/Skills • Master’s degree required. • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.

Experience • Three years' experience working with Boards of Directors and CEOs of non-profit organizations • Knowledge of and experience with the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word • Supervisory experience • Knowledge of Catholic educational and service organizations • Displays financial acumen, with the ability to interpret basic financial statements and key performance indicators for varied organizations. • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
