Basic Function

The Machinery Planner position is a member of a dynamic team that is responsible for the planning and scheduling of maintenance functions at the La Porte manufacturing site. This position will be responsible for the planning of rotating equipment work and requires diverse machinery knowledge. In this role you will be responsible for developing planned job packages for machinery repair work and improvement projects based on priorities established by the PMC. The ideal candidate will pay strong attention to detail and is committed to workplace safety.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Accountable for personal safety, the safety of co-workers and promoting a safe work environment.
  • Responsible for the daily planning of work and the creation of equipment task lists for areas of responsibility.
  • Ensures adherence to the Maintenance and Operations Workflow Process (MOWP).
  • Works with the Purchasing Group to procure materials and services utilizing Outline Agreements where applicable.
  • Actively participates in planning and scheduling meetings.
  • Communicates with the FLS, Craft Supervision, Scheduler, and Production Maintenance Coordinator to solicit feedback on job plans.
  • Assist in the creation and/or changes of equipment BOM's.
  • Provides support for any site emergency maintenance issues during off-hours.
  • Reviews backlog and planner priorities list for duplicates.
  • Adheres to site notifications guidelines for backlog and budget maintenance.
  • Groups notifications together that can be planned and worked as a single order, optimizing utilization of resources.
  • Ensures plans are in place that meets the timing requirements of the process units.
  • Checks for understanding of scope through notification text and field walk throughs.
  • Builds job plans that clearly show special instructions and required documentation such as MOC information, QA/QC needs, P&ID's, spec sheets, required skill crafts and duration, specialty tools, equipment and reserve or create purchase orders for necessary components.
  • Participates in the bidding process and requisitioning of third-party services.
  • Assembles job packages in preparation for job execution.
  • Utilize previous repair history, condition monitoring data and personnel feedback to ensure the appropriate scope of work is developed.
  • Participates in the identification and implementation of reliability driven improvements.
  • Ensures critical PM's are planned and released prior to the scheduling date.
  • Ensures PHA findings, action items, and safety work orders are planned and released prior to scheduling date.
  • Ensures MOCs are authorized prior to releasing job.
  • Assures machine jobs meet the site standards.
  • Performs monthly reviews on their Planned vs Actual Cost/Hours.
  • Plans all jobs utilizing Equipment Task Lists.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager.
Min. Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum 5 years Millwright Craft experience
  • Demonstrate strong listening, written, and oral communication skills
  • Committed to quality, and safety
  • Strong knowledge of machines in a manufacturing/plant environment
  • Ability to accurately read blueprints and drawings
  • Able to build constructive and effective relationships with a broad diverse team of business partners
  • Able to work under minimal supervision, handle multiple projects, and changing priorities
  • Must be willing and able to provide overtime coverage and respond to plant call-outs to respond to site needs.
  • Proficient in Excel with an aptitude to learn technical applications quickly
