Overview

The Mortgage Accounting Clerk will assist the Staff Accountants with reconciliations and will handle day to day tasks such as process reconciliations, accounts payable / receivable duties, and ad hoc journal entries to assist with Accounting Processes. The Mortgage Accounting Clerk will be involved in processes across the department and will be assigned tasks that expose them to the mortgage industry.

Responsibilities
    Code Mortgage Invoices for the Corporate Accounts Payable team to process
  • Monitor our vendor listings to ensure invoices are paid on time if needed
  • Record receivable entries at month end for outstanding invoices if needed
  • Create and deliver invoices to brokers and manager the corresponding GL account if needed
  • Report on outstanding receivables and monitor invoices for potential losses
  • Create recurring journal entries throughout the month as needed and monitor respective processes
  • Create miscellaneous journal entries as directed by other Accounting Personnel
  • Research items by Corporate Accounting or the Mortgage Controller
  • Work with the accounting team to assist with reconciliations as necessary
  • Disburse checks for renovation loans or other Mortgage processes as necessary
  • Prepare and analyze assigned month end entries and maintain proper audit for entries
  • Assist the Mortgage Accounting Management with the month end close processes where necessary
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor's degree in Accounting and/or Related Field preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years job related experience preferred or currently enrolled in Bachelor's Program
  • Ability to operate a personal computer using Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Basic knowledge of Accounting
  • Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with customers as well as fellow employees
  • Knowledge of all necessary computer applications
