A Day in the Life:

➔ Collaborate with veterinarian, other veterinary technicians, and support staff to ensure seamless patient care and client service.

➔ Help veterinarians with patient exams, procedures, and surgeries, ensuring all equipment and supplies are prepared and ready.

➔ Assist the veterinary surgeon with surgical procedures, including preparation and maintenance of the surgical suite, and preparation of patients for surgery

➔ Administer anesthesia, monitor patients under anesthesia, and provide post-operative care

➔ Provide compassionate nursing care to pre- and post-surgical patients, including post-surgical management, IV catheterization, and fluid therapy.

➔ Operate and maintain surgical equipment, including monitoring and recording equipment, anesthesia machines, and surgical instruments

➔ Communicate with pet owners, explain treatment plans, post-operative care, provide updates on patient status, and address any questions or concerns.

➔ Maintain accurate medical records and patient charts, including pre-operative and post-operative notes.

➔ Get home at a reasonable hour
        *Our current operating hours are Monday-Thursday 9:00am-6:00pm

Skills & Requirements:
•Must be a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) or Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), with a valid license in NY state
•Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology or equivalent from an accredited program.
•At least 2 years of experience in veterinary surgical nursing, including anesthesia and monitoring, surgical preparation, and post operative care.
•Strong knowledge of veterinary medical practices, procedures, and terminology.
•Proficiency in compassionately handling and restraining animals, including those exhibiting stress or fear.
•Ability to work well under pressure, multitask, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
•Proficiency in using veterinary software for patient records and medical documentation.
•Physical capability to lift, carry, and restrain animals of varying sizes.
