Job Title:  Production Manager

Location:  Davis, CA

Pay Range:  starting at $110,000

What’s the Job? 
The Production Manager, Sheet Metal Fabrication is tasked to proactively lead and develop the Sheet Metal Factory team, which includes welding, fabrication and paint (powder-coating).  This position's responsibilities encompass planning, instructing, directing, and checking the work of Sheet Metal Factory Teams.

    • Manage and oversee the sheet metal fabrication department which includes welding, fabrication, and paint (powder-coating) teams and ensure smooth operations and timely production schedules.
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of fabricators and other staff members and ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively.
    • Oversee and enforce safety protocols and guidelines in the fabrication department, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.
    • Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in sheet metal fabrication techniques and equipment and recommend investments in new technology or process enhancements to improve efficiency and quality.
    • Ensure the quality and delivery of sheet metal manufacturing processes 
    • Manage production schedule and work records correctly 
    • Improve the productivity  
    • Establish and communicate clear expectations for team members regarding expected productivity results 
    • Provides overall leadership to team including developing, motivating, and leading strong, effective teams. 
    • Prepare and manage daily fabrication schedules.  
    • Make plans for future equipment investment. 
    • Establish consumable material procurement process and Equipment maintenance. 
    • Manage team members working time and reporting requirements and hold performance reviews. 
    • Communicate and work effectively across multiple teams and departments to achieve production goals. 

 
Minimum Requirements:  
    • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related field. Relevant certifications or professional qualifications in sheet metal fabrication, is preferred. 
    • Proven experience working in sheet metal fabrication, with at least 5 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
    • Strong knowledge of sheet metal fabrication techniques, processes, and equipment.
    • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
    • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop employees.
    • Strong communication and effective supervisory skills 
    • Must be able to manage multiple priorities and easily adapt to changing situations. 
    • Ability to assemble sheet metal components, plumbing, motion components, and cast structures. 
    • Project scheduling experience 
    • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint 

 
Work Environment:  
Manufacturing environment (assembly, machining, quality control facility.  Exposure to possible hazards may include noise, electricity, chemicals, heavy equipment, and other automated and manual machinery. 
 
Physical Demands:  
Frequent: standing, sitting at desk, utilizing computers and phones.  
Periodic: walking, bending, stooping, and lifting.  
Occasional: repetitive foot, leg, hand, arm, shoulder, and torso movements.
