Responsibilities

Manages the daily operations of the central sterile supply unit.

  • Develops specific departmental goals, standards, and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of the organization.
  • Collects and reports on data concerning instrument distribution, loss and replacement. Works collaboratively to identify and implement strategies related to product standardization, supply reduction, and cost containment.
  • Manages staff relations including performance management, staff satisfaction and conflict management. May perform and oversee processes such as scheduling, recruitment, payroll and student engagement.
  • Monitors departmental budgets, regulatory compliance, departmental contracts, vendor relations, and quality and process compliance of all sterilization activities throughout the health system.
  • Monitors quality and process compliance of all sterilization activities.
  • Establish and maintain sterilization, safety and security standards, policies and procedures for Sterile Processing Department to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.

Requirements

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • Central Service Tech credentialed from the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education:

  • High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Technical degree required.

Work Experience:

  • 3 years of experience required. 
  • 1 year of leadership or management experience required.

Additional Preferences

Will travel to Ascension Calumet, Ascension Mercy Hospital and Ascension Midway once to twice a month. 

 

4 to 5 years of Certified Sterile Processing experience preferred.
