A growing, global technology organization, is hiring their first Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to drive global innovation and be the external face of technology to our institutional customers. The CTO plays a critical executive role in meeting our company growth goals. Our Fortune 1000 customers look to us for thought leadership and innovation in optimizing their business through innovative products and data analytics. With established technology centers in the US, India, and East Asia along with five hundred global technology resources, this role will lead the corporation in continuing its reputation for creating and leveraging advanced technologies. The CTO will drive all executive decisions with regards to the technological interests of our company and be responsible for outlining the company's technological vision, implementing corporate and technology strategies, and ensuring that the engineering and technological resources are aligned with the company's business needs. This role is for a seasoned, pragmatic business leader with a reputation for driving and delivering innovation to obtain business results.

Seeking an enterprise Chief Technology Officer  who can serve as an organizational technical expert and steward as well as a strategic business partner to the Chief Executive Officer ("CEO") and other members of the Executive Leadership team.

As a member of the Executive Leadership team, the CTO will be directly involved in the formation of corporate strategy, responsible for the analysis and investment plans required to select, develop, deploy, and operationalize enterprise-wide scalable technology solutions aimed at empowering rapid growth.

The successful candidate will be a seasonable technology professional that emphasizes agile thinking, is dynamic and innovative, with high executive EI along with strong strategic and analytical skills. S/he will have a demonstrated record of success in positions of increasing technology and transformation management responsibility and will be exceptional at developing, managing, and leading directly or indirectly the full complement of technical, strategic, operational, and administrative responsibilities of the global technology organization. The successful candidate will have a reputation for technical acumen – but not the expense of speed-to-market, strategic thinking – but is prone to action, commercial acuity applied through the lens of dynamic, exponential growth. S/He must possess sound business judgment, analytical abilities, strong leadership/interpersonal skills and be comfortable working in a company planning for prudent and sustainable growth. S/he must also possess exceptional communication skills, executive presence, and be able to partner effectively with experienced senior company executives.

The CTO will also be accountable for the transformation and modernization of all internal and external facing technology platforms used by the organization and customers including a scalable ERP platform that addresses near-term business operations, technology to support bespoke equity trading strategies and as well as a revenue generating SaaS platform.

From a functional perspective, s/he will be responsible for leading all aspects of the technology function, ensuring compliance with the standards required of a global company. S/he will provide leadership and guidance on all technology disciplines, including:

• Evaluate the company’s product, engineering, and technology roadmaps. Develop technical aspects of the company’s strategy to ensure alignment with business goals and broader technology strategy and adjust any or all of these processes to ensure consistency and the integrity of results.

• Translate the ratified technology strategy into discrete milestones and sub-unit level goals striking the right balance of near-mid-long term tech stack evolution.

Refine standards and surrounding to increase the commercial contribution of a best-in-class global engineering team of 500+ stations in the US, India and the Far East.

• Foster a culture of strategic ownership, scrappiness, and cross-functional collaboration using insights from data to drive efficient feature delivery and operations excellence.

 

• Responsible for selecting products and implementation partners that deliver quality products and services for functional areas.

• Help model capacity requirements and utilization rates to predict and improve cost of tech stack ownership and set-out a set of ongoing process that keep the tech structures and related processes modern, agile and slightly ahead of the broader market.

• Represent the technology team by communicating direction and data-driven insights to leadership peers, customers, partners, and company’s internal Board of Directors.

The CTO is expected to be the public face of the organization’s technical prowess and should help guide how the organization can make the customer’s lives better. The CTO is to work as the technology partner to the Chief Product Owners (CPO) to develop new technology-enabled products, and doing so will improve revenue and sales opportunities, whilst also enhancing the company’s brand.

Responsibilities will include:

The CTO will liaise on technology vision with internal constituencies providing thought leadership and long-term vision to enhance the outcomes derived from tech investments and in surrounding processes. Responsibilities to include:

  • Core business systems and infrastructure (ERP, CRM)
  • Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and process digitization
  • Digitizing business operations
  • Technology operations and support
  • Devices and hardware
  • Networking
  • Security and compliance
  • Managing technology vendors and partners

Strategic Orientation

The successful candidate will be creative and capable of thinking about commercial development and business operations – not just technology issues. The person selected for this role will have demonstrated the ability to work with executive leadership to help shape the Company’s business and technology strategy and have been involved in the expansion of an ongoing concern, including growth in potentially new Industries, markets, and geographies. S/he will be able to translate agreed upon strategies into operating plans that guide the growth of the business overall.

Results Orientation

The ideal candidate will have a track record of consistently delivering year over year improvement in technology advancement in environments characterized by rapid growth opportunities, a sense of urgency for growth and quality service delivery and continuous improvement across the commercial and delivery ecosystem. S/he will have ability to present technology, and operational information using relevant managerial reports, such as analysis of product profitability, to analyze, interpret and advise on data and trends, and to harness information to measure technology advancement and operational improvements. This individual will not be satisfied with simply achieving goals but will seek out ways to consistently exceed agreed upon services and enterprise growth objectives. S/he will be able embrace the CTO role as an anchor for fiscal responsibility and integrity, and as a position that is central to enterprise management and sustainable, long-term growth.

Key to success in supporting the Company’s drive for results will be the ability to work effectively with different businesses and stakeholders; both internally and with partners and service providers around the world. The successful CTO will build credibility and partnership with the executive team through functional expertise, leadership skills, and a proactive, constructive, and informative style of engagement. The successful candidate will be an authentic, humble leader that leads through assimilation of others’ ideas and input, while shaping and influencing decisions to maximize profitability while driving business growth.

The successful candidate will bring a collaborative and charismatic personal style that creates commitment and enthusiasm throughout an organization. S/he must be comfortable working in an agile, dynamic yet streamlined environment and be willing to not only lead and coach but to ‘do and train’ others. The successful candidate will have experience building teams – across geographies and time zones and be and be comfortable engaging with those teams to develop plans and resolve issues through collaborative problem solving. The person selected for the CTO role will create a clear sense of team identify and management key objectives and hold personnel accountable for meeting assigned objectives and supporting their day-to-day efforts to do so. S/he will be viewed as a natural leader across the organization and will possess managerial skills that are reflected by his/her organizational abilities, success developing high performance teams, skill in managing resources, responsiveness to management and sound fiscal and commercial judgment.

Job Qualifications

Required Education, Experience, Certification/Licensure

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field

• 15+ years of progressive experience in technology leadership, software engineering and architecture, including full stack development for a diverse, global organization.

• Public or privately held companies preferred.

• Prior P&L direct management experience will be considered a plus.

• Prior Strategy Office experience or Strategic Planning group participation

• Experience in commercial development of SaaS products, and implementation of ERP enterprise solutions is required.

• Experience in championing the role of technology business partnership in a rapidly growing organization will be required to succeed in this role.
