Salary:

Frontier Cooperative is seeking an Automotive Service Technician to work at our Burr, NE station.  This position is offered as full-time with benefits.

 

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Maintains quality service by following customer service standards; analyzing and resolving customer service problems; maintains vehicle functional condition by listening to customer complaints; conducting inspections; scheduling customers to perform service or repairs; recommending system improvements to Energy Division Manager.
  • Performs and maintains maintenance and cleaning of building externally and internally, gasoline pumps, and building grounds.
  • Uses automotive technical abilities to diagnose malfunctioning vehicles, present an estimate of charges for parts and labor to fix the issue with the customer.  Performs automotive maintenance, service and repair work. Such as; adjusting and/or replacing brake system components, motor tune-ups, drive train components, wheel components, motor system components, batteries, hoses, fan belts, lights, fuses, changing and repairing tires, oil and other lubricant changes. Verifies vehicle service ability by conducting test drives, adjusting controls and systems.
  • Ability to inspect vehicles then recommend and promote the sale of products, services or parts to customers as needed.  Such as; oil change, low or worn tires, defective hoses or fan belts, or battery defects.
  • Promote tire sales to customers, prepare sales quotes on tires and mounting service; if needed, order, receive and inventory tires, enter and prepare sales tickets for payments.
  • Performs customer service activities such as pumping gasoline, checking engine oil, tires, battery, and washing windows and windshield.
  • Prepares invoices and bills of sale to present to customers for product and services rendered.
  • Reconciles daily reports for cash sales slips and credit card charges; balances daily the cash drawer and prepares cash drawer for new business; performs internal and external bank deposits; bills customers for vehicle service; parts and repairs, and/or any needed wrecker service; collects and credits customer accounts after payments received; reads and records daily gasoline pump meter readings.
  • Manages inventory levels by ordering, receiving and performing stock additions on gasoline, diesel fuel, tires, oil, automotive accessories and parts;  maintains an awareness of market trends and local competitors and appropriately sets pricing for gasoline, diesel fuel, tires, oil, service repairs and labor costs.
  • Assists in inventory by ordering and receiving automotive parts and accessories, tires, oil, follows company policy on establishing margins for products, parts and services.
  • Ensuring standards of health, safety, and security to customers, vendors and employees by following all company safety standards and regulations.
  • Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; informing Energy Division Manager of needed repairs.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications and establishing personal networks.


Minimum qualifications include, but are not limited to:

  • High School graduate and four to five years related automotive mechanic experience and/or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • This position must have knowledge, skills and abilities in complex to routine level of auto mechanic diagnosis, repairs, and service; retail sales, time management, safety management, problem solving and analyzing information.
  • Operate safely a variety of mechanical and pneumatic hand tools, bench tools, hoists, lifts, tire machine, tire balance machine, hand-held computer diagnosis scanner, welder, cutting torch, brake lath, oil filter pressure tester, air coolant machine and personal computers to conduct accounting functions, time card approvals and internet portal access to vendors to order parts and products.
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance procedure manuals and instructions.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before customers or employees of the company.
  • Perform basic math computations.  Such as; discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, and volume.
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or electronic form.
