Summary

The Electrical Field Service Technician will apply theory and principles of electrical engineering to modify, develop, test, or calibrate machinery and equipment.

What you'll do

  • Repair and maintain electrical equipment by servicing, disassemble and assemble, calibrate and test machinery, machine components and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of electrical principles.
  • Knowledge/experience working with and troubleshooting PLC with knowledge or Siemens based or Allen Bradley PLC 5-5000 and HMI Rockwell Factory Talk software.
  • Set up or operate test equipment to evaluate performance of developmental parts, assemblies, controls, or systems under simulated operating conditions. Identify solutions to on-site technical design problems involving electrical systems equipment.
  • Ability to read, interpret and work from electrical schematics. product manuals and maintenance documentation.
  • Solid problem solving, multi-tasking and prioritization skills
  • Prepare work to be accomplished by studying assembly instructions, blueprints, schematics, specifications, and parts lists; gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.
  • Perform routine maintenance, inspections, troubleshoot malfunctions and repairs on equipment as well as provide installation support of new or revamped equipment.
  • Assist in electrical upgrades and repairs along with implementation of tailored predictive and preventive maintenance on our equipment.
  • Actively seek training opportunities to enhance personal knowledge and capabilities.
  • Job requires travel and spending periods of time on customer sites for installation, commissioning and/or repairs of process controls and automation equipment throughout North America.

What you'll need

  • Vocational/Associate's degree or 5+ years of experience electrical service or equivalent combination of education and experience in the metals of forging industry . Degree or certification is a plus but not required. You need to have sound knowledge and understanding of machinery basics, a high aptitude in mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, or schematic and identify parts, operation and applications of tools used in machining production techniques while maintaining a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Previous experience in the Metals Industry or with Press Equipment is preferable.
  • Communicate by providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
  • Ability to observe, receive, and analyze information to evaluate results and choose the best solution to solve problems.
  • Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
  • Computer Skills: Pro/E or similar 3D CAD environment is required. Working knowledge of AutoCAD or similar 2D CAD environment is of important. 3+ years of MS Office applications experience.
