Zepf Center has been serving the Lucas County community for nearly 50 years. We are the leading provider of behavioral health and substance use disorder services in Northwest Ohio. Services include adult and child psychiatric, substance abuse, case management, residential, Crisis Care, and therapy programs, as well as career development and wellness services. Zepf Center also offers primary care medical services to our patients to contribute to their continuum of care. Zepf Center is a trauma-informed agency and environment for both patients and staff.

We are currently seeking Lucas County Sheriff Officers to project at Zepf Center. The Deputy Sheriffs provide security services during established Methadone dosing hours. Hours may extend beyond dosing hours as determined by Zepf administration based on special circumstances and/or organizational needs. The Officers are responsible for patrolling the premises, both indoors and outdoors, to establish a presence, maintain order, detect suspicious behavior, and respond to illegal/criminal behavior. May include providing security escort for patients admitted to Zepf after normal business hours. This position will use education, training, and experience, the Deputy Sheriff will act within city/state law and policies/procedures of the Zepf Center to ensure the safety and well-being of clients, staff, and visitors.


Competencies/Essential Functions:

1. Patrols the Lobby and grounds to ensure the security and safety of clients, staff, and visitors.

2. Maintains the organization's stability and reputation by preserving order and enforcing laws, regulations, and directives.

3. Precludes unauthorized access to the building.

4. May conduct searches of patients for weapons or illegal contraband.

5. Apprehend and detain perpetrators according to legal protocol and organizational policies and procedures.

6. Adopts quick, effective, and reasonable courses of action under adverse and/or emergency conditions using an appropriate level of force in accordance with legal protocols and organizational policies and procedures.

7. Complete reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities, interview witnesses, obtain signatures if indicated. Will additionally prepare an organizational incident report if the occurrence falls within the organization's parameters.

8. Complete required trainings in a timely fashion.

9. Comply with agency and departmental policies and procedures.

10. May participate in agency-wide projects and staff development.

Requirements:
  • Any combination of education and experience which would meet the requirements of a Deputy Sheriff.
  • First Aid / CPR Certified
  • Communicates effectively orally and in writing.
