Job Summary


Nova Credit Union is seeking candidates for the newly created position of Human Resource Specialist. Reporting directly to the CEO, the HR Specialist will lead and direct all routine functions of the Human Resources (HR) department within the credit union.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Processes weekly payroll.
  • Benefits administration, including health/dental plans, 401k plan, and all employee benefits.
  • Manages the talent acquisition process, including recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants.
  • Coordinates new employee onboarding.
  • Analyzes trends in compensation and benefits; researches and proposes competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.
  • Ensures effective employee communications; monitors employee relation issues and strives to ensure a positive and productive workplace culture.
  • Performs exit interviews and assists with the separation process.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Coaches and mentors managers as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • 3-5 years of relevant human resources experience in a generalist capacity.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • HR Certification (SHRM-CP or PHR) strongly preferred.
  • Experience with managing training needs preferred.
  • Experience with career pathing/development programs is a plus.



Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
