Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor/Substance Abuse Associate

 

Want to become an Alcohol & Drug Abuse Counselor in Las Vegas, New Mexico 

 

Easy Requirements to obtain Licensure if you do not have one:

1. Associates Degree and/or Bachelor’s degree or Master’s.
2. 90 clocked hours of class room in the counseling related field or substance abuse related field from an accredited institution OR 90 of Continuing Education Unit (CEU) training (RGATP will provided the CEU training if needed)

 

Other New Mexico Licensures Accepted:

1. Licensed Substance Abuse Associate (LSAA)
2. Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor (LADAC)
3. Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC)
4. Licensed Master Social Worker (MSW)
5. Licensed Baccalaureate Social Worker (LBSW)

 

Clinical supervision will be provided to maintain licensure requirements.

 

The primary responsibility of the Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor/Associate is to provide direct services to adults with substance use disorder. Principal functions are assessment, group and individual counseling, client education, motivational enhancement, treatment planning, discharge planning, case management and referral, among other duties.
