Momentum Academy is a public charter school district with four campuses in St. Louis City, serving scholars in grades PK-8. Role

The HR Generalist is a key representative of our regional office and plays a crucial role in supporting the human resources functions within Momentum Academy. They are responsible for collaboratively advancing the human resources objectives of Momentum Academy.  The HR Generalist works closely with the HR Manager/Director to develop systems, procedures, and policies and ensure effective policy implementation and alignment with the organization's mission and goals. Key responsibilities include promoting a positive work culture, fostering employee engagement and development, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and providing strategic HR support to the organization. This position is responsible for various HR activities including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, training and development, compliance, and HR administration.

Essential Responsibilities 

  1. Recruitment and Onboarding: Coordinate recruitment processes including job postings, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, development/reviewing job descriptions, and conducting background checks.
    1. Facilitate the onboarding process for new hires.
  2. Employee Relations:
    1. Provide guidance and support to employees on HR-related matters, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and grievance procedures.
    2. Conduct investigations into employee complaints or concerns and recommend appropriate solutions.
  3. Performance Management:
    1. Support the performance management process by assisting with goal setting, performance evaluations, and performance improvement plans.
    2. Provide training and coaching to managers and employees on performance management best practices.
  4. Training and Development:
    1. Coordinate training sessions and workshops, both internally and externally.
  5. HR Administration:
    1. Maintain HR records and databases, including employee files, attendance records, and HRIS data.
    2. Prepare HR-related reports and metrics for management as needed.
    3. Assist with benefits administration and employee inquiries.
  6. Policy Development and Implementation:
    1. Assist in the development, implementation, and communication of HR policies and procedures.
    2. Ensure consistent application of policies across the organization.

Education/Certification Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. HR certification (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP) is a plus.


Qualifications

  • Proven experience working in human resources, preferably in an education or non-profit organization.
  • Strong understanding of employment laws and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in HRIS and MS Office applications.
  • Highly relational and collaborative
