Position Purpose:

The Therapist is responsible for providing trauma crisis response assessments in the field/virtually for the Tribal 988 Mobile Crisis Response Team and providing follow-up care as needed for clients. The Therapist will provide individual and group counseling as well as other services to clients undergoing addiction or mental health crises. The primary target population will be children, youth, elders, and families of Peoria Tribal Citizens and the surrounding tribal community within Ottawa County.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Determine program protocol develop training materials and administer training for Cultural Competency with the 988 Tribal Response team.

· Training for local 988 call center staff that specifically addresses the needs of the Tribes and Tribal Citizens in Ottawa, County.

· Identify and track referrals from and develop staff response.

· Implement a Tribal quality improvement plan that focuses on assessments, referrals, and access to local care to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated response to tribal individuals at imminent risk for suicide.

· Provide counseling to members every week through text, chat, virtual calls, and in-person, to monitor their progress on their recovery journey.

· Onboard the patients in crisis in the field or virtually complete a multidimensional assessment to gather relevant mental health information.

· Monitor the progress of the client and offer Therapeutic strategies on how to avoid a lapse or relapse.

· Travel within or outside of the jurisdiction area to meetings, community events, and conferences.

· Provide individual, family, and group counseling sessions, including same-business day visits.

· Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Education and Experience:

· Must be LADC M/H or LCSW or LPC in good standing with active license.

· Minimum of 5 years of experience with a minimum of 1 year in crisis response work preferred.

· CPR/First Aid/AED Certified within 90 days of employment.

· Preference to trauma counselors, PRSS Certified, Tribal Citizen, LADC/MH and Trauma-informed/Crisis Therapist

· Credentials in multiple states is highly valued.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

· Proficient with Electronic Medical Record systems.

· Proficient with evidence-based practices such as motivational Interviewing, Medication Assisted Treatments, and Relapse Prevention.

· Ability to prioritize competing work demands.

· Ability to adapt to fast-changing environments.

· Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

· Able to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals from different disciplines, including coaches, Peers, physicians, and nurses.


Certifications:

· Valid Driver’s License and Insurance

Work Requirements:

Shift hours: Onsite position Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Position involves prolonged sitting, standing, stooping, or bending, lifting, or carrying up to 50 pounds on a daily basis. Work is generally performed in an office environment with varying levels of lighting, air quality, noise, and / or temperature.
