Job Title: MST Therapist

Location/Work Status: Wailuku, Hawaii with flexible work environment. Will be required to serve assigned clients on Molokai and neighbor islands within the Maui County.

Job Type: Regular Full Time, Exempt

Summary of Program and Position:

Intensive Support Services offer family-centered, community-based services providing learning opportunities for youth and promoting their optimal behavioral health. Multisystemic Therapy (MST) is an evidence-based treatment program for youth with serious and complex problems who live at home. Therapists work with youth and their parents on specific goals that will enable the youth to continue living at home, going to school or to work and avoiding arrest or re-arrest.

The MST Therapist provides clinical treatment and prevention evidenced-based services to families and their children with serious behavioral, social, and emotional challenges who are enrolled in the program. Services are planned and delivered in partnership with key family members and assigned system personnel. This position is under the direct supervision of the MST Supervisor.

Essential Duties:

  • Therapists are required to work outside the normal business hours and be available to assigned clients for crisis management.
  • Ensures delivery of service in a manner consistent with standards and guidelines established by funders and state law. Must be able to travel off island weekly to provide clinical services.
  • Ensures that service delivery efforts are rooted in current best practice principles as outlined by the family centered principles of the Hawaii Children and Adolescent Service System Program (CASSP).
  • Documents all contacts thoroughly and in clear, concise, and timely fashion using nonjudgmental language.
  • Notifies supervisor when there are any significant and critical issues occurring in the caseloads.
  • Maintains strict adherence to the MST model of therapy and is competent with the MST Analytical Process (Do-Loop)
  • Participates in all MST training, supervision and consultation activities and attends in a timely manner.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education /Training:

Master’s degree in Social Work or related field plus at least one year of experience working in care or treatment of youth in a mental health or educational setting,

OR

Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related field plus five (5) years’ experience working in the care or treatment of youth in a mental health or educational setting.

Other:

  1. Possesses and maintains a valid driver’s license and daily access to an automobile.
  2. Possesses and maintains proof of no-fault insurance.
  3. Can obtain an acceptable criminal background check upon hire, one year later, and annually thereafter.
  4. Can obtain an acceptable CWS background check. upon hire, one year later, and annually thereafter.
  5. Can obtain an acceptable National Sex Offender Registry Check upon hire, one year later, and annually thereafter.
